If Candy Crush Saga has stopped responding, update the game, fully close and reopen it, then restart your device. These low-risk steps are a good place to start whether the game freezes while loading, during a level, or after a reward. Avoid clearing game data or uninstalling until you know your progress is saved.
Try these quick fixes first
- Check for a game update. Open the App Store or Google Play Store, find Candy Crush Saga, and install an update if one is available. King Community’s advice for a reported freeze was to update the game, then fully close and reopen it (King Community).
- Close and reopen the game. Exit Candy Crush completely rather than just switching away from it, then launch it again.
- Restart your device. Close other apps first if practical, then restart your phone or tablet and try the game again.
- Check available storage. Make room if your device is nearly full. King Community discussions mention keeping at least 2 GB free as advice, not as a verified minimum for every supported device (King Community; King Community).
Choose the next step based on where it freezes
If it freezes while loading or in a level
After the update, full app restart, and device restart, try launching the game again. If the same screen keeps freezing, note exactly when it happens—such as during loading, near the end of a level, or after using a booster. That detail can help Player Support investigate.

If you play through Facebook in a browser
Try opening the game in another supported browser. This is a way to check whether the problem changes; it does not establish that your original browser caused the freeze. King Community suggests trying another browser for Facebook players (King Community).
If it freezes after a long session
A King Community contributor relayed a developer suggestion to restart the app after more than 30 minutes of continuous play. Treat that as a possible workaround, not a proven cutoff or guaranteed prevention (King Community).

Protect your progress, boosters, and purchases
Be cautious with storage-clearing options: clearing an app’s cache is different from clearing its data. King Community moderators advise clearing cache where available but warn against clearing game data because boosters may be stored there. They also caution that uninstalling can risk boosters (King Community).
Do not uninstall or clear data as an early troubleshooting step. If you are considering either action, first make sure your progress is saved and ask Player Support if you are unsure. If a freeze affected a purchase, level progress, or items, contact support rather than repeatedly restarting the game.

What King has said about recent freezing reports
King Community Manager QueenB said the team was monitoring reports of freezing or crashing, including issues near the end of a level, after boosters, or after buying Extra Moves. In a post last updated May 12, 2026, she said a fix for the reported issues after version 1.327.0.1 was rolling out to Android and iOS players and advised checking the app store for the latest available update: “The fix should now be rolling out for both Android and iOS players. Please check your app store for the latest available update.” (King Community, May 12, 2026.) That announcement concerns a particular reported issue at that time; it does not establish the cause of every current freeze.
