Character Unlock Keys and eligible save data can give you immediate access to specific fighters in Versus Mode, but they are early-access bonuses—not a complete list of the game’s ordinary unlock requirements. The available official information confirms several bonus characters and Academy variants; it does not establish every story or Kimetsu Points Shop condition. Edition bonuses also vary by region and platform.
What the confirmed unlock routes do
There are two different things to keep separate: earning characters through the game’s normal progression and receiving early access through an edition bonus or linked save data. SEGA describes Character Unlock Keys as making the named characters playable in Versus Mode from the start. That description confirms early access, not whether or how those characters can be earned through normal play.

How to claim the save-data bonuses
- Use the same platform. The eligible save data must be from the first Hinokami Chronicles or Sweep the Board! on the platform where you play Hinokami Chronicles 2.
- Make the eligible save data available to the game. SEGA’s description specifies linked save data from the same-platform software. It does not provide a universal menu path or troubleshooting steps in the cited game information.
- Check Versus Mode for the bonus characters. These keys grant early access to the listed characters; the Sweep the Board! bonus also includes the named attire.
What about story unlocks and the Kimetsu Points Shop?
Story-mode progression and the Kimetsu Points Shop are described in a published video guide as topics for unlocking characters, including Academy variants. However, the indexed description does not supply a complete character-by-character checklist or exact requirements. The official publisher and store information available here likewise does not provide a full unlock table.
For an exact requirement, check the current in-game unlock or reward screen for that character. Do not assume a Character Unlock Key is the only way to obtain a character, or infer a chapter, mission threshold, or point price from the early-access bonus list.

Which roster information should you trust?
Use SEGA’s official character roster to confirm which characters are included. The roster establishes inclusion, not necessarily how or when a character unlocks. The Steam store listing confirms the PC product and its listed edition-specific keys; it should not be treated as a universal statement of bonuses for other regions or platforms.

You do not need to buy a special edition simply to unlock base-game characters through ordinary progression. Consider an edition bonus only if its listed early-access characters and variants are worth having from the start, and verify the offer for your region and platform before purchasing. Searching for “Demon Slayer The Hinokami Chronicles 2” refers to the game itself; ownership alone does not establish eligibility for the separate save-data bonuses.
