In Assassin’s Creed Unity, co-op unlocks after you complete Sequence 3. Ubisoft’s support instructions say the co-op missions appear after Sequence 3, Memory 1, and completing the first Murder Mystery side mission. Once co-op is available, use the pause menu’s Play Together option to invite a friend or find a match.
Unlock co-op and make the missions appear
- Progress through the main story until you complete Sequence 3. Ubisoft says co-op becomes available at that point (Ubisoft Support, updated October 8, 2024).
- To make the co-op missions appear, complete Sequence 3, Memory 1, then complete the first Murder Mystery side mission, as Ubisoft specifies in its co-op mission instructions.
The general co-op unlock and the conditions for co-op mission icons to appear are related but distinct. Do not assume every mission becomes available as soon as Sequence 3 is complete.

Invite a friend or use matchmaking
- Open the pause menu and select Play Together.
- For a specific teammate, select Invite Players and choose a friend from your platform’s friends list.
- To search for a teammate through matchmaking, select Play Co-Op Now.
Ubisoft’s instructions describe both options but do not establish current matchmaking population, queue times, or server status.
Online requirements
- You need an internet connection and must be friends with the other player on the relevant platform.
- For console play, Ubisoft lists the platform’s online subscription as a requirement: Nintendo Switch Online, PlayStation Plus, or Xbox Game Pass for the corresponding console.
- Ubisoft’s support guidance does not make the same paid-subscription claim for PC.
If you mean the Unity game engine
If “Unity” means the game engine rather than Assassin’s Creed Unity, there is no general co-op unlock that players can activate. Co-op is implemented separately by each game’s developers. Unity’s multiplayer documentation describes tools for developers building multiplayer games, not a player-facing progression setting.
