DLC fighters in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves are unlocked by buying the paid content that contains them. Depending on the character and your platform, that means purchasing the correct Season Pass or buying the fighter separately when the storefront offers an individual listing. There is no documented story mission, challenge, or level requirement that unlocks these characters. The Standard Edition includes only the base game, and SNK says network access is required to use all content.
To get a specific fighter, identify the season in the roster below, confirm which edition or pass you already own, then use the store attached to the account and platform where you play. Edition names and Season 3 listings have changed, so read the current product description before paying.

What “unlocking” a DLC fighter actually means
In this game, “unlock” refers to gaining a paid license for additional character content. Buying the base game alone does not grant the downloadable fighters. A Season Pass is a bundle covering a defined group of characters; an individual DLC listing, where available, grants only the character or content named on that listing.

SNK has stated that “DLC characters that were previously Season Pass exclusives are now available for individual purchase (check storefront listings for applicable characters).” The qualification matters: individual availability can differ between storefronts, regions, platforms, and release dates. Do not assume that every character in a pass can be bought separately everywhere.

After the purchase is associated with the correct platform account, the game still needs network access to use all content, according to SNK’s product information. The reviewed official information does not specify a special in-game menu sequence, a hidden challenge, or an offline workaround for activating a character.
Which Season Pass contains each fighter?
Use this map before opening a store page. It prevents the most common buying error: purchasing a pass that does not contain the character you want.

Why Season 3 requires extra care
SNK’s July 2026 announcement described Rick Strowd, Duck King, Kim Kaphwan, Laocorn, and two mystery slots scheduled for October and December. An official product page crawled in October also displayed additional Season 3 guest names and an extra mystery slot. Those official listings do not match perfectly for unreleased fighters.
That does not change the purchase method, but it does change how you should verify a purchase. For a Season 3 character that has not yet released, use the live product page for your platform and read the current included-content list. Treat older announcement rosters as a release schedule, not as a permanent substitute for the storefront description.

What each edition includes
Edition names are not interchangeable. The same game title can be sold with different pass combinations, and the bundle may be digital or physical. SNK’s product information describes the following packages:

The Standard Edition is a base-game purchase, not a discounted access key for every later fighter. If you own it, you need the relevant pass or an individual character listing. Conversely, a bundle advertised with a Season Pass should be checked for whether the base game is included; do not infer that from the pass name alone.
The Legend Edition price warning
SNK announced the Legend Edition in January 2026 as a base game plus Seasons 1 and 2 bundle and initially listed a price of $49.99. That was an announced price at that time, not a guaranteed current price. Store prices vary by region, platform, tax, sales, and later product changes, so use the amount displayed at checkout rather than treating $49.99 as a standing price.

- Confirm the account that owns the game. Sign in to the PlayStation, Xbox, PC, or other platform account that actually owns your copy of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. DLC licenses are tied to the platform ecosystem and account used for the purchase.
- Identify the fighter’s season. Match the desired character against the Season Pass 1, 2, or 3 table above. If the name appears only in an unreleased or changing Season 3 announcement, continue to the live store page instead of relying on an old roster.
- Open the storefront for that platform. Search the exact game title, then open the add-on, Season Pass, or character listing. Make sure the listing is for the same platform family and edition context as your base game.
- Check ownership and included content before paying. The store should indicate whether you already own the relevant pass, whether the fighter is included in a pass, or whether an individual purchase is available. SNK specifically says to check storefront listings for applicable individual characters.
- Purchase the smallest suitable entitlement. Buy the individual fighter if you want only that character and the listing exists. Buy the appropriate Season Pass if it is the only available route or if you want the complete group of fighters in that season. If you are buying the game for the first time, compare the total bundle contents with the cost of the base game plus separate DLC.
- Install or apply the add-on. Follow the platform’s normal download and installation process. The reviewed SNK information does not name a universal in-game activation menu, so do not expect a secret code or gameplay unlock screen.
- Connect the game to the network. SNK says network access is required to use all content. Start the game while signed in to the purchasing account and connected to the platform service so the entitlement can be recognized.
- Verify the character in the game. Once the store shows the purchase as owned and the add-on has installed, check the character roster. If the fighter is still unavailable, stop before buying again and work through the account, edition, storefront, and network checks in the troubleshooting section.

If you already own the base game
Standard Edition owners
Keep the base game installed, then purchase the pass or individual fighter that matches your target character. The Standard Edition does not silently convert into a Legend, Revenge, or Special bundle after purchase; those are separate product configurations with different included content.
Owners of a pass
Check the pass name and season before buying anything else. For example, owning Season Pass 1 covers Andy Bogard, Ken, Joe Higashi, Chun-Li, and Mr. Big, but it does not establish ownership of Season Pass 2 or Season Pass 3 fighters. A store page that says “included” or “owned” is more authoritative for your account than a general roster image.
Owners of a physical Special Edition
SNK’s physical Special Edition listing is for PS4 and PS5 and bundles the base game with Season Pass 1. It does not, on that description, include Seasons 2 or 3. Those later seasons require their own entitlement unless your account also owns another package that includes them.

Choose the Standard Edition when you want the base roster only
This is the straightforward option when you do not need paid fighters immediately. Add individual DLC or a pass later, subject to what your storefront offers.

Choose the Legend Edition for Seasons 1 and 2
SNK lists the digital Legend Edition with the base game and Season Passes 1 and 2. Confirm that the store page you are viewing is the same digital edition and platform you intend to use.
Choose the Revenge Edition for the broadest listed pass coverage
SNK lists the Revenge Edition with Seasons 1 through 3 and the base game. Because Season 3’s unreleased roster and release status have changed across official listings, read the current included-content panel before checkout.
Consider the physical Special Edition only for its specific package
The physical Special Edition is relevant when you need a PS4 or PS5 copy and Season Pass 1 together. It is not a substitute for a package that includes Seasons 2 and 3.
Platform, account, and network checks
The purchase must be made in the storefront connected to the platform on which you play. A character bought on one platform account should not be assumed to transfer to another platform, another region, or a different account. The official information supplied for this guide does not promise cross-platform DLC sharing, so verify ownership on the exact account and device family you use.

Network access is a content requirement, not merely a convenience for matchmaking. SNK says access to the network is required to use all content. If the game launches while the platform service is unavailable, the entitlement may not be recognized even though the purchase itself was completed.
What to check when a purchased fighter is missing
- Wrong season: Recheck the character against the roster table. A Season Pass 1 purchase cannot be used as proof of ownership for a Season Pass 2 or 3 fighter.
- Wrong edition assumption: Read the product description. Standard includes the base game only; the physical Special Edition listing includes Season Pass 1; Legend and Revenge list different pass combinations.
- Individual listing unavailable: SNK says individual purchases apply to applicable characters according to storefront listings. If your store does not display an individual product, the pass may be the available route.
- Different account: Confirm that the signed-in platform account is the one that paid for the DLC and owns the base game.
- Network unavailable: Reconnect to the platform service and start the game while online, because SNK requires network access for all content.
- Season 3 information changed: Compare the purchase page with the current release status. Older announcements and later product pages have not always shown identical unreleased names.
The reviewed official material does not specify universal menu labels or entitlement-restoration commands. Avoid deleting save data or purchasing the same add-on again until the storefront confirms what your account owns.
Common purchase mistakes to avoid
- Buying the Standard Edition and expecting its base-game license to include future fighters.
- Choosing a Season Pass by number without checking the character list.
- Assuming every pass character is individually purchasable on every platform.
- Treating the January 2026 Legend Edition price of $49.99 as a current worldwide price.
- Assuming a pass automatically includes the base game when the listing does not say so.
- Relying on an old Season 3 announcement instead of the live storefront description.
- Expecting a gameplay challenge, story completion condition, or hidden code to unlock paid DLC.
Practical examples
You want Ken and own the Standard Edition
Ken is listed in Season Pass 1. Open your platform store, check whether Season Pass 1 or an individual Ken listing is available, purchase the applicable product, install it, and launch the game online under the purchasing account.
You want Blue Mary but already bought Season Pass 1
Blue Mary is listed in Season Pass 2, so Season Pass 1 ownership does not cover her. Look for Season Pass 2 or an individual Blue Mary listing on your storefront.
You want a Season 3 fighter whose release date is approaching
Use the current Season 3 product page, not only the July 2026 announcement. Confirm whether the fighter is released, named in the included-content list, and available for individual purchase on your platform.
You want the game and several DLC seasons at once
Compare the current Legend and Revenge listings. Legend covers Seasons 1 and 2; Revenge is listed with Seasons 1, 2, and 3. Confirm the edition, platform, and exact contents before checkout because prices and offers can change.
Bottom line for DLC access
There is no established gameplay unlock for these fighters. Match the character to its season, buy that season’s pass or an available individual listing, confirm the correct base-game edition and account, install the entitlement, and stay connected to the network. For Season 3 and any changing bundle, the live platform storefront is the final authority on names, release status, and availability.
