To unlock all four Barrow-Dyad Catalysts, complete the Derealize Exotic Mission once on any difficulty, then replay it on Master or higher for the remaining three Catalyst rewards. The mission is currently listed under Pinnacle Ops. You do not need to complete a Grandmaster version.
All Barrow-Dyad Catalysts
Barrow-Dyad has four Catalysts:
- High-Impact Reserves
- Hatchling
- Target Lock
- One-For-All
The current Bungie reward notice confirms the order as Catalyst 1, followed by Catalysts 2, 3, and 4, but does not provide a reliable mapping between those numbers and the named perks. Check the weapon’s perk and Catalyst details in-game rather than assuming a particular name matches a numbered reward.

The weapon’s original Heresy-era quest route has changed. Old guides referring to quests such as A Needle’s Path, A Silken Path, or A Hundredfold Path, or to the Nether activity, describe the former seasonal system and are no longer the current method.

- Open the current activity listings and select the Pinnacle Ops tab.
- Choose the activity named Derealize.
- Complete Derealize once on any difficulty. The first completion awards Barrow-Dyad if you do not already have it, Intrinsic 1, Intrinsic 2, and Catalyst 1.
- Continue completing Derealize on Master difficulty or higher. The remaining three Catalysts drop sequentially from these completions.
Bungie’s current reward rules state that Intrinsics 3, 4, and 5 can be earned by completing the activity on any difficulty, while Catalysts 2, 3, and 4 require Master or higher. The practical route is therefore one flexible first run followed by repeated Master completions until all four Catalyst rewards have been claimed.
#1 Best Overall
Most players should expect roughly four or five total completions, depending on whether Barrow-Dyad is already unlocked and which intrinsic rewards have previously been collected. The exact number can vary with your account’s existing progression.
Do you need Grandmaster difficulty?
No. Master is sufficient for Catalysts 2, 3, and 4. A Grandmaster completion is not required under the currently reported reward rules, so choose Master unless you specifically want the additional challenge.

How to apply a Barrow-Dyad Catalyst
After a Catalyst drops, reshape Barrow-Dyad at The Enclave on Savathûn’s Throne World. Select the weapon, choose the available Catalyst slot, and apply the Catalyst through the reshaping interface.

If a Catalyst does not drop
You repeatedly completed the normal version
Normal or other non-Master completions can progress the weapon’s intrinsic rewards, but they do not satisfy the current requirement for Catalysts 2–4. Switch to Master or higher for the later Catalyst drops.

You cannot find the old quests or Nether activity
Those instructions are obsolete after the Heresy seasonal route was retired. Look for Derealize in the Pinnacle Ops tab instead.
You expected every Catalyst after the first run
The first completion awards only Catalyst 1. Catalysts 2, 3, and 4 are sequential rewards from later Master-or-higher completions.

Derealize is not awarding anything
Bungie previously fixed an issue where the Portal version of Derealize failed to award Barrow-Dyad, its Intrinsics, and its Catalysts. Make sure you are running the currently listed Derealize activity and that the completion is registering normally. If your reward progression still appears stuck, check the activity’s current reward text and Bungie’s latest update notes before repeating the mission.
What changed from the original Heresy guides?
During the early Heresy-era system, guides commonly stated that only High-Impact Reserves was available and that the other Catalysts would unlock later through seasonal quests. That information applied to the earlier Act 2 progression. The post-season system now grants the weapon, Intrinsics, and Catalysts through Derealize’s sequential completion rewards instead.
Fastest reliable plan
- Run Derealize once on any difficulty.
- Confirm that Catalyst 1 and the initial weapon rewards were granted.
- Run Derealize on Master three more times, checking your reward progression after each completion.
- Use The Enclave to apply each Catalyst as it becomes available.
In short, do not farm the normal version for the later Catalysts and do not search for the removed Nether quests. The current route is Derealize through Pinnacle Ops, with Master-or-higher completions required for the final three Catalyst rewards.
Bungie’s update on the Derealize reward rules confirms the difficulty requirements and sequential progression. Current player reports also identify the activity’s Pinnacle Ops listing and confirm that Master, rather than Grandmaster, is sufficient: Reddit discussion.
