Goofy’s weapons in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix are shields. For the strongest all-around late-game option in the cited equipment reference, pursue Ultimate Mushroom: it has +9 Strength, Protectga, and absorbs 40% of damage taken. If you want an easier Coliseum reward, win the Titan Cup for Genji Shield; if you want an item-focused option, synthesize Save the King.

Which Goofy shield should you unlock?

“Best” depends on the ability you want, not Strength alone. These options share a +9 Strength rating at the top end except for Genji Shield, which is a more accessible Coliseum reward.

Shield Strength Ability or effect How to unlock it
Genji Shield +6 Lucky Lucky Win the Titan Cup. Kingdom Hearts Wiki
Save the King +9 Item Boost Synthesize it at a Moogle using the King Recipe. Kingdom Hearts Wiki
Save the King+ +9 MP Rage The Final Mix upgrade of Save the King. Kingdom Hearts Wiki
Ultimate Mushroom +9 Protectga and 40% damage absorption Earn it as a Mushroom XIII reward. Kingdom Hearts Wiki

Choose Ultimate Mushroom for its direct defensive effect, Save the King when boosting item restoration matters, or Save the King+ for MP recovery through MP Rage. The values and effects above are listed by the cited Kingdom Hearts Wiki equipment references; they are game attributes, not independent test results.

How to get Genji Shield

  1. Enter the Coliseum and win the Titan Cup. The shield reference lists victory in that cup as Genji Shield’s acquisition method.
  2. Equip it on Goofy when you want the Lucky Lucky ability or need a Coliseum shield before pursuing the other routes.

How to get Save the King

  1. Travel to the Ship Graveyard and open the recipe chest in Seadrift Row to obtain the King Recipe. King Recipe location reference
  2. Take the recipe to a Moogle and synthesize Save the King. The cited material does not establish the full ingredient list or quantities, so check the in-game synthesis screen rather than relying on an unverified bill of materials.
  3. In Final Mix, Save the King+ is the upgrade listed with MP Rage instead of Save the King’s Item Boost. Kingdom Hearts Wiki

How to get Ultimate Mushroom

  1. Complete a Mushroom XIII challenge associated with an even-numbered member: No. 2, 6, 8, 10, or 12. The cited equipment reference lists these as sources for the shield.
  2. Aim for rank S. The same reference lists a 10% drop chance at rank A and a 100% drop chance at rank S. These are the guide’s stated in-game reward rates, so the rank you earn is central to this route.
  3. Once obtained, equip Ultimate Mushroom on Goofy for Protectga and its listed 40% damage absorption.

Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix is the Final Mix edition included in the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX collection; consult the official collection manual for edition context: Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX manual.
