To unlock Gerudo Sanctum, progress through A Rift in the Gerudo Desert, get Chief Seera’s permission to enter Cryptic Cavern, then pull the cavern’s plug with Bind. The sand drains and reveals the Sanctum entrance. Go outside, enter the Sanctum from the front, and step into the rift inside to begin the dungeon.
Get Chief Seera’s permission
The route to the Sanctum is gated by the main quest A Rift in the Gerudo Desert. Clear the Stilled Desert Temple Ruins Rift; afterward, Chief Seera authorizes the Sanctum entrance restoration and directs Zelda to a cave in the southern desert. Nintendo Life’s Gerudo Sanctum walkthrough and Gamer Guides’ quest sequence describe this progression.
Find Cryptic Cavern
After Seera gives permission, head to Cryptic Cavern in the southern desert. It is south of the Oasis, beside the large rift in that area. Speak to the Gerudo guard outside to enter; the cavern is a short mini-dungeon immediately before Gerudo Sanctum. Nintendo Life’s guide to getting to the Sanctum identifies the cave’s location and access condition.
Collect the useful Echoes and drain the sand
As you work through Cryptic Cavern, learn the Wind Cannon Echo and Pathblade Echo if you have not collected them already. Both are useful for progressing through the cavern sequence and the next dungeon. Continue until you reach the plug, then use Bind to pull it. The plug releases the sand, exposing the entrance buried beneath it. Nintendo Life’s Cryptic Cavern walkthrough covers the Echoes and plug.

Enter Gerudo Sanctum
Once the sand has drained, leave the cavern and return to the desert surface. The newly revealed entrance is at the front of the Sanctum. Enter the building, then step into the rift inside to start the dungeon. Nintendo Life’s Sanctum walkthrough confirms the final approach.

If the entrance is still buried
- Check quest progress: make sure you cleared the Stilled Desert Temple Ruins Rift and received Seera’s permission.
- Check the location: the relevant cave is Cryptic Cavern, south of the Oasis beside the large southern-desert rift.
- Check the cavern: reach the plug and pull it with Bind. Finding the cavern alone does not uncover the entrance.
