To unlock the Grand Lift of Dectus, collect the Dectus Medallion’s left half from a tower chest at Fort Haight in Limgrave and its right half from a tower chest at Fort Faroth in Caelid. At the lift, stand on the platform before the statues and choose “Hoist Medallion.” The lift connects Liurnia of the Lakes with Altus Plateau.
Where to find the left Dectus Medallion half
Fort Haight, Limgrave
Fort Haight is on the southeastern coast of Limgrave, below Mistwood. Enter the fort and make your way to its tower. Climb the ladder and open the chest at the top to collect the left half. The item description points to the other half at Fort Faroth. For the location, see the Elden Ring Wiki’s left-half entry or PowerPyx’s location guide.

Where to find the right Dectus Medallion half
Fort Faroth, Dragonbarrow
Fort Faroth is in the Dragonbarrow area of Caelid, east of Sellia and south of the Minor Erdtree. The right half is in a chest atop a tower just past a shed. Enemies in and around the fort can be dangerous if you arrive early; you can try to run through toward the ladder rather than stopping to fight them all, but that is a route suggestion, not a requirement. The Eldenpedia entry for the right half identifies its location and includes the in-game item description.

How to activate the Grand Lift of Dectus
- Make sure you have both halves of the Dectus Medallion in your inventory.
- Travel to the Grand Lift of Dectus at the north end of Liurnia.
- Stand on the lift platform in front of the statues and select “Hoist Medallion.”
The activation sequence plays, and the lift carries you between Liurnia and Altus Plateau. You can operate it from either end. The GamesRadar guide to the lift also describes the activation interaction.
#1 Best Overall
- Collaborating with George R.R. Martin to create the ELDEN RING mythos has been a genuinely delightful experience and a source of wonderful inspiration. The team is working hard to ensure that the world of ELDEN RING will be a fascinating place for players to explore, filled with peril and wonder from its furthest reaches to its lowest depths. This is a FromSoftware title through and through, rich in fantasy and RPG action. We sincerely hope you look forward to it.
- Building the world of ELDEN RING with Miyazaki-san and his team was a treat! The graphics, mythos, and action-RPG gameplay will deliver an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait for people to see what ELDEN RING has in store for them.” Said George R.R. Martin.
Can you reach Altus Plateau without the medallion?
Yes. The alternative is to travel up the ravine north of the lift through Ravine-Veiled Village and its mine dungeon. This route includes the Magma Wyrm Makar encounter, but it does not require either medallion half. Choose it if you would rather take the ravine route than travel to Fort Haight and Fort Faroth; use the lift if you want the direct connection between Liurnia and Altus. The alternative route is also covered in the GamesRadar guide.
