Complete Skier’s Easy Money – Part 1 and turn it in. That is the stated requirement to unlock Ref as a trader in Escape from Tarkov’s main game.
Unlock Ref from Skier
- Open Skier’s task list and look for Easy Money – Part 1.
- Complete the task objectives shown in your game, then turn in the task to Skier.
- Check the trader list for Ref. The Escape from Tarkov Wiki’s Ref page identifies Easy Money – Part 1 as the main-game access requirement.
The Arena changelog also describes the same unlock. The exact objectives and task availability can depend on the current game build and your profile, so follow the task text shown in-game.

Ref’s unlock, quest chain, and transfer service are different milestones

These distinctions are described in the Arena changelog and the Ref page. The latter lists Ref’s trader loyalty thresholds as LL2 at character level 15 and 0.25 reputation, LL3 at level 25 and 0.50 reputation, and LL4 at level 35 and 1.20 reputation. Those are page-listed requirements, not independent statistics; check Ref’s live trader screen because requirements can change.

If Easy Money – Part 1 is missing
There is no established universal fix or confirmed extra prerequisite for a missing task. Check that you are viewing the intended mode and profile, review Skier’s currently available tasks, and read any updated requirement shown in-game. Do not assume a particular character level or other gate unless the game displays it for your profile.

Ref availability in PvE
A June 10, 2026 Arena changelog entry says Ref was added to PvE mode with related tasks and trade offers. That is a dated changelog statement, not a guarantee of availability in every current mode or profile; confirm Ref’s presence and task availability in your game.
