To unlock access to the Ranch in Palia, complete the quest “Like a Bird”, earn your glider, then craft and use the Barn Bell Delaila gives you. The bell is your route to the Ranch; you do not need to buy an animal or reach a later Ranching level first.
How to get to the Ranch
- Complete “Like a Bird.” This quest is the starting point for Ranching, as stated in the official Palia 0.195 patch notes, published September 10, 2025.
- Earn your glider. The Barn Bell becomes available after you earn it during this quest progression.
- Return to your housing plot. Delaila visits and provides the Barn Bell recipe.
- Craft the Barn Bell. Once crafted, the bell gives you access to the Ranch.
- Interact with the bell. Use it to travel to the Ranch, a separate area for ranching activities.
The official patch notes put the prerequisite plainly: “To begin your ranching journey, complete the quest ‘Like a Bird.’”
Where to get the Barn Bell
Delaila provides the Barn Bell recipe at your housing plot after you earn the glider. The bell is listed as a Level 1 Ranching unlock, but that level label does not mean you must first level up Ranching: the recipe is provided by Delaila as part of the initial access sequence.
Do you need to unlock animals or storage first?
No. The quest and Barn Bell unlock access to the Ranch; animal unlocks and added storage are later Ranching progression. In the 2025 progression table, Peki unlocks at Level 2 and Trufflet at Level 4. Ranch upgrades that add 10 animal storage are listed at Levels 5 and 8. Those rewards are not prerequisites for visiting the Ranch.

Once there, the Ranch area includes animal spaces, a store register, storage access, and a breeding pen, according to the official introduction in the 0.195 patch notes. A community-maintained Ranch reference page also describes access through the quest and bell.
