To unlock underwater farming in Coral Island, progress through the Merfolk storyline until Cho Oyu invites you to the Naga Palace, then complete the Underwater Farming and Resupply Merfolk Kingdom quest steps. You’ll receive Marinip Seeds and a Lumina Wand to start growing ocean crops. The exact point at which the invitation arrives is not consistent across the available wiki accounts, so check your in-game journal and mail if it hasn’t appeared.
What quest unlocks the underwater farm?
The farm is tied to the Merfolk storyline and the Underwater Farming quest, followed by Resupply Merfolk Kingdom. The Underwater Farming quest page says Cho Oyu sends an invitation to visit the Naga Palace after the Merfolk accept you. At the palace, Queen Nanda Devi gives you 15 Marinip Seeds and a Lumina Wand so you can begin the farming task.
How to start growing ocean crops
- Advance the Merfolk storyline. Continue its quests until you are accepted by the Merfolk and receive Cho Oyu’s invitation to the Naga Palace.
- Visit the Naga Palace. Speak with the Merfolk royalty and Cho Oyu, then accept the farming task addressing the kingdom’s food shortage.
- Make ocean-crop seeds. Use the Carnivorous Plant to combine land crops with ocean materials. The Crop page describes the resulting seeds as the route to growing ocean crops.
- Plant and tend a crop underwater. Till the underwater farm soil with a hoe, plant an underwater seed, and use the Lumina Wand to illuminate the crops.
- Continue the resupply quest. Harvest an ocean crop, meet the character who collects it, return to the Merfolk Kingdom, and hear the taste-test results, as described in the Resupply Merfolk Kingdom quest page.
If the invitation has not arrived
One account of the unlock says you must reach Ocean Rank A and complete a ceremony before King Krakatoa sends an invitation; it identifies visiting the kingdom as the start of Resupply Merfolk Kingdom and the point when the farm unlocks. That threshold is not clearly confirmed by the other quest and crop accounts, so treat it as a possible prerequisite rather than a guaranteed requirement for every current version. Check your journal and mail, and keep progressing the Merfolk quests if you have not received the invitation. The Ocean Rank page contains the Rank A account; the Coral Island Wiki homepage currently advertises version 1.3 but does not establish a precise patch date or confirm the unlock threshold.
Unlocking additional ocean-crop seeds
After the farm is available, shipping 50 of the same crop unlocks that crop’s seed for purchase at the Merfolk General Store, according to the Crop page and the Merfolk General Store page. The Crop page also says ocean crops can be grown in any season.
