To unlock flight in AION 2, keep progressing through the opening main story in Poeta. Recent guides place the flight tutorial in Damina Forest, around the fifth quest, but the exact English quest name is not confirmed by the official English pages. When the tutorial appears, follow its prompt; on PC, guides report V as the default flight toggle. Check your in-game controls if that key does not work.
When do you unlock flying in AION 2?
Flight is tied to early story progression, not a separate trainer or a wing purchase. Guides place the unlock in Damina Forest, roughly around the fifth quest. One gives the quest name as “Ex. 11 Search Preparations…,” but that wording is not confirmed by the official English material, so use the current quest log and tutorial prompt rather than relying on the title. AllThings. How’s wing unlock guide and ExpCarry’s flying guide describe the story-based milestone.
NC’s official About the Game page presents flight and aerial exploration as game features, but does not specify the unlock quest or controls.
How to unlock wings and start flying
- Continue the main story in Poeta. Follow the opening quests instead of grinding to an assumed character level; the guides describe flight as a story milestone.
- Watch for the tutorial in Damina Forest. It is reported to appear around the fifth quest. If your quest name differs from “Ex. 11 Search Preparations…,” follow the flight icon or on-screen tutorial.
- Use the prompt to deploy your wings. On PC, recent guides report V as the default flight toggle. If it does nothing, check the live keybindings or use the displayed prompt.
- Check the acceleration control. Guides report Shift as the PC flight acceleration input; verify it in your own controls.
Do you need to buy wings?
No purchase is established as a requirement for unlocking story flight. The Korean official guidebook has a Wings category and notes that wing types can differ in their ownership effects. Its excerpt says shop-purchased wings have no ownership or equipped effect; it does not document the first-wing unlock. Treat wings as a collection or customization question separate from completing the flight tutorial.

Why might flight not work?
- The tutorial has not appeared: continue the Poeta story and check the quest log for the Damina Forest milestone.
- The reported key does nothing: inspect the current keybindings or follow the on-screen control prompt; default controls can differ by client or change between builds.
- Flight works in one place but not another: recent third-party guides report restrictions in interiors, dungeons, and combat, but the official English pages cited here do not confirm the current restrictions. Check the location’s prompt and continue the story if needed.
For the broad feature description, see the official AION 2 home page. The precise quest label, controls, and location rules may vary with the live client, so in-game prompts take priority over older guide instructions.
