For Windows, the current Intel package listed for Arc B-Series, Arc A-Series and Core Ultra processors with Arc graphics is Graphics Driver 32.0.101.9150 WHQL. The recommended installer is gfx_win_101.9150.exe, listed as an 862.6 MB download for Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11. Before installing, identify your installed driver, check your computer maker’s package if you use a laptop or prebuilt desktop, and then install the matching Intel package or the OEM release. Ubuntu normally includes Arc support in the operating system, but the GPU’s minimum kernel requirement still matters.

What an Intel Arc driver update changes

A graphics driver is the software layer that lets Windows or Linux communicate with the Arc GPU. Newer releases can add support for recently released games and applications, correct compatibility defects, and address problems in the graphics stack. An update does not change the physical GPU and cannot solve every crash or performance issue; it is most useful when the problem is tied to the graphics driver or when an application requires a newer driver branch.

Check your Arc model, Windows build and installed driver first

Read the installed version in Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X and choose Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display adapters, right-click the Intel Arc device and select Properties.
  3. Open the Driver tab and record Driver Version and Driver Date. The Details tab can help distinguish the exact adapter when a system has more than one GPU.

Also confirm the Windows release in Settings > System > About. The current package is listed for Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11; Intel’s supported Windows 11 entries include 21H2, 22H2, 23H2, 24H2, 25H2 and 26H2. If your build is not listed, do not assume that the installer is compatible.

Use Intel Driver & Support Assistant to identify the right package

Intel Driver & Support Assistant detects the graphics product, identifies the installed driver version and advises when a newer compatible package is available. Run the scan before downloading manually. It is especially useful when the computer has an integrated Arc GPU, a discrete Arc card, or several Intel graphics entries that are easy to confuse.

Check the computer manufacturer before using Intel’s generic driver

Intel warns that a generic package can overwrite a manufacturer’s customized driver. Laptop and prebuilt-desktop owners should therefore open the support page for their exact model and compare its graphics release with Intel’s package. OEM software can be tied to display switching, power profiles, hotkeys, docking hardware or other platform-specific behavior. If those features are important, use the OEM release first or keep it available as a rollback option.

Update an Intel Arc driver manually in Windows

  1. Close games and GPU-accelerated applications. Save work and disconnect nothing that the graphics driver needs during installation, such as a dock or external display.
  2. Record the current version. Use Device Manager or Intel Driver & Support Assistant so you can confirm what changed after the restart.
  3. Compare Intel and OEM packages. For a laptop or prebuilt, check the manufacturer’s support page before selecting Intel’s generic installer. A desktop assembled from retail parts can normally use Intel’s package when the Arc model and Windows edition match.
  4. Download the matching Intel executable. At the time of this update, Intel lists Graphics Driver 32.0.101.9150 WHQL and the Windows file gfx_win_101.9150.exe. The listed download size is 862.6 MB. Verify the version and operating-system notes on the download page immediately before installation because Intel can replace the package.
  5. Start the installer. Intel’s FAQ describes the executable workflow: double-click the downloaded .exe file and follow the installation screens. Approve the Windows permission prompt if it appears.
  6. Allow the installation to finish. The display may flicker or go blank briefly while the driver is replaced. Do not power off the computer during that process. If the wizard offers a restart, accept it after closing other applications.
  7. Verify the result. Return to Device Manager > Display adapters > Intel Arc > Properties > Driver and check the reported version. Then launch the game or application that motivated the update and test the affected display, rendering or video feature.

If the installer refuses to run, first check that the GPU and Windows release match the package notes. A generic Intel installer is not a substitute for an OEM package when the manufacturer has supplied a customized graphics stack.

Choose between Intel’s generic package and an OEM package

Use the OEM driver when platform features are the priority

Notebook and prebuilt systems often combine the graphics driver with firmware, display-switching logic and power-management settings. Start with the manufacturer’s release when an external monitor, sleep/wake behavior, battery profile or vendor control panel is unstable. The OEM page may lag behind Intel’s public release, but that older version can still be the supported choice for the computer.

Use Intel’s package when you need the current Arc release

Intel’s generic driver is the route to the newest publicly listed Arc package when your system is compatible and no OEM restriction applies. It is also useful for a retail desktop whose board and operating system do not depend on a manufacturer-customized graphics package. Keep the OEM installer so you can return to it if a platform-specific feature stops working.

Enable automatic updates with Arc Control

Arc Control can notify you about a newer driver and can either download it or download and install it. Intel’s documented sequence is:

  1. Press Alt + I to open Arc Control.
  2. Open the Driver tab.
  3. Click the settings cog.
  4. Find Automatic Updates and choose Download or Download and Install.
  5. If you use a schedule, set the date and time when the update should run.

Intel says the scheduled Arc Control feature requires Intel Driver & Support Assistant to be installed. Automatic installation gives you less control over when a restart or graphics reset occurs, so manual installation is preferable before a tournament, livestream or other time-sensitive session.

Recover when Windows Update rolls the driver back

Windows Update can replace an Arc driver with an earlier version. Intel notes that this rollback can create performance or application-compatibility problems. A sudden return to an older version after reboot, or a game that worked before the Windows update and fails afterward, is consistent with this situation.

First recovery method: install over the Windows version

  1. Download the latest compatible Arc Windows package from Intel.
  2. Run the installer over the version Windows Update installed.
  3. Do not uninstall the Windows Update driver first; Intel’s first recommendation is to install the latest version over it.
  4. Restart when prompted and verify the driver version in Device Manager.

Second recovery method: customize the installation without a clean install

If the first method does not restore the correct driver, use the appropriate Arc .exe again. At the installation stage choose Customize, leave Execute a clean installation unchecked, finish the wizard and use the optional reboot. This procedure preserves the existing installation path while replacing the rollback version.

Update Arc graphics on Ubuntu and other Linux systems

Ubuntu’s in-box support

Ubuntu has in-box support for Intel graphics solutions, including Intel Arc Graphics, so a separate Intel graphics repository is not normally required for a standard Ubuntu installation. Begin by checking Intel’s supported-GPU information for the minimum kernel version required by your Arc model. An Ubuntu release with an older kernel may need an operating-system update before the GPU is fully supported.

Newer or early GPGPU components

For newer or early GPGPU packages, Intel directs users to its dgpu documentation. Intel cautions that a package may not yet be published in the repositories configured on your system. Installing a package name copied from documentation without checking repository availability can therefore fail even when the hardware is supported.

Media features and other distributions

Some media features need additional Intel Media Driver packages for VAAPI. Install those only when the feature you need requires them and the package is available for your Ubuntu release. Intel’s cited Linux guidance does not currently support other Linux distributions, so do not treat the Ubuntu procedure as a universal installation method for every distribution.

Driver versions, families and historical downloads

The current Windows page lists Arc Alchemist and Battlemage products alongside Core Ultra processors with Arc graphics. Intel’s April 2026 availability notice says that historical Arc drivers older than 32.0.101.6987 were removed from the Download Center. If you need an older build for a controlled test, the normal historical-download list may no longer contain it; Intel directs users toward current validated versions and Intel Driver & Support Assistant instead.

Because driver availability and supported Windows builds change, check the version, file name, operating-system list and release notes again immediately before every update. A number that was current for one month or hardware family should not be assumed to apply to another.

Which update method fits your situation?

Method Hardware and OS detection OEM customization Control Platform Recovery behavior
Intel Driver & Support Assistant Detects the graphics product and installed driver, then advises when a newer compatible package exists Lets you compare the detected Intel hardware with the computer maker’s package before installing Recommendation and download workflow; scheduled Arc Control updates require it Windows Use the normal installer or Intel’s rollback procedure if Windows replaces the driver
Manual Intel executable You select the matching Arc package and verify the model and Windows release yourself Generic package may overwrite OEM customizations Highest control over package and installation time Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11, subject to the current package’s support list Install over the Windows-installed version; if needed, choose Customize and leave clean installation unchecked
Arc Control automatic updates Uses Arc Control with Intel Driver & Support Assistant installed Does not replace the need to check an OEM package first Notification, Download, or Download and Install; scheduled date and time are available Windows Manual installation remains the documented response to a Windows rollback
Ubuntu in-box support Uses Ubuntu’s integrated Intel graphics support; you must check the GPU’s minimum kernel Not an OEM Windows package Managed through the Ubuntu release, kernel and repositories Ubuntu Linux Use Intel’s dgpu documentation for newer or early GPGPU components and check repository availability

Final verification checklist

  • The adapter name matches the Arc GPU you intended to update.
  • The installed version is recorded before and after installation.
  • The Windows edition or Ubuntu kernel meets the package’s support requirement.
  • A laptop or prebuilt owner has checked the OEM release and understands the generic-driver trade-off.
  • The computer has restarted when requested.
  • The game, display, video or compute workload that prompted the update has been tested.
