Weapon levels, weapon stars, matrices, armor, and character progression are separate investments, so spend each material where it improves your current loadout or removes a progression bottleneck. Exact costs and the best current builds are not established here; check the live game before committing to a specific threshold or character-specific setup.
Choose an active loadout before spending
Start with the weapons you bring into the content you play, whether your immediate need is damage, support, shield breaking, or survivability. A focused working team is generally a better use of limited upgrade materials than leveling every new weapon equally. This is a resource-allocation recommendation based on the systems’ separate costs, not an official rule or a current tier ranking.
The latest version checkpoint available is the official Tower of Fantasy Operations Team’s version 6.3 notice. It announced maintenance for September 15, 2026, and said The Witch’s Key would join the permanent Choice Weapons special order and Gray Fox Matrices the permanent Choice Matrices special order. That notice confirms those announcements, but it does not provide upgrade costs, farming routes, or a current optimal loadout.
Spend weapon materials on levels and breakthroughs
Weapon levels
Weapon Batteries provide weapon EXP, and leveling raises weapon stats, according to the Tower of Fantasy Index weapon guide. Treat batteries as a direct investment in weapons that are part of your active team rather than distributing them across weapons you rarely equip.

Breakthroughs
Weapon levels have thresholds that require breakthrough materials to raise the level cap, as described in the Tower of Fantasy Index mechanics guide. If a weapon stops gaining levels, check whether it needs a breakthrough before farming more EXP. The guide is not a current cost sheet: verify today’s threshold and required items in the weapon screen rather than relying on older numeric caps or material amounts.
Keep character progression from blocking weapons
The mechanics references describe weapon levels as limited by character level, so character progression can be a prerequisite for further weapon leveling. If your weapon cannot advance, check your character level and the weapon’s breakthrough status before spending time collecting more Weapon Batteries. The available older guides do not establish the current level cap, so use the live game for exact limits.

Evaluate weapon duplicates as a separate investment
Duplicates advance a weapon’s stars and can unlock effects; this is distinct from raising its level with Weapon Batteries. A star is not automatically the best next spend: its value depends on the weapon, the effect unlocked, and whether that weapon belongs in your intended team. Check the displayed star effect and compare it with the benefit of leveling another core weapon before using duplicates or related resources.
Upgrade matrices as an equipped set
Matrices have their own progression track. Matrix EXP chips level them, while duplicate matrices advance them. Because set effects reward coordinated combinations, assess the effect of the equipped set as a whole instead of treating every matrix level as an isolated upgrade.

The version 6.3 notice names Gray Fox Matrices for the permanent Choice Matrices special order, but it does not rank matrix sets or establish a best-in-slot choice. Choose based on your current weapons and the set effects shown in game; do not assume a newly announced matrix is automatically the best use of your upgrade materials.
Enhance armor before investing heavily in replaceable pieces
Enhancement raises fixed stats
The Tower of Fantasy Index gear guide describes Enhancement as increasing fixed armor stats and granting bonuses when equipped pieces reach shared milestone levels. It also says enhancement level carries over by equipment slot when armor is replaced. If that behavior is still shown in your current game, enhancing a slot can be a more transferable investment than committing scarce materials to one specific piece.

Fusion improves a specific piece
Fusion adds stars to an individual armor piece and improves its random stats, according to the same guide; those stars do not carry over to a replacement piece. Consider Fusion when you expect to keep that piece and its random stats are worth improving. Confirm the current in-game transfer rules before investing, because the guide’s gear information was last updated in 2022.

- Loadout relevance: Is the weapon, matrix, or armor piece part of the team and content you use now?
- Immediate payoff: Does the spend raise useful stats, clear a weapon-level bottleneck, unlock a valuable star effect, or improve a matrix set effect?
- Resource scarcity: Would the same material help another core weapon or progression step more?
- Transferability: Does the investment follow an equipment slot when you replace an item, or stay attached to that particular piece?
- Confidence: Is the mechanic confirmed by current in-game information, or described only by an older guide?
Current upgrade costs, efficient farming routes, and up-to-date weapon or matrix rankings are not established by the cited materials. Use the live upgrade menus to compare the actual requirements shown for your account, and avoid treating old guide numbers or character recommendations as current advice.
