Short answer: Build for the activity in PvE—damage, healing, tanking or a useful balance—while Apex League PvP calls for a different calculation. A community-maintained mode reference reports that Apex League disables weapon resonance, Simulacrum traits and Matrix effects, and normalizes stats. So a PvE team’s bonuses and investment assumptions may not carry over, even when its weapons remain useful.
How PvE team building works
PvE team building starts with the activity and the job your roster needs to do. The community weapon reference describes four resonance types—Attack, Fortitude, Benediction and Balance—with effects that differ between solo and team play. Tower of Fantasy Index describes three broad co-op archetypes: Attacker, Tank and Support.
Use these roles as a planning framework, not a mandatory recipe. Ask what the encounter or progression activity requires, what your available weapon kits can contribute, and whether you are playing alone or with a team. The available references do not establish that every PvE activity requires a dedicated tank or healer, nor do they identify one best composition for all content.
- Solo: Consider the resonance effects and role coverage relevant to solo play; you cannot rely on teammates to fill a missing function.
- Co-op: Consider how your resonance works in team play and what the group already brings. A role that is useful in one team may be redundant in another.
- Activity: Treat progression modes as distinct contexts. Damage, survivability and utility needs can vary, so do not assume one PvE setup is optimal everywhere.
What the latest cited update establishes
The official version 6.3 announcement, dated September 10, 2026, says it added levels to Bygone Phantasm: Boundless Realm and launched a new Sequential Phantasm season. Those are examples of current PvE progression contexts, not recommendations for a particular weapon team. The announcement also says The Witch’s Key weapon and Gray Fox Matrices entered permanent Choice Orders after the update; that is access information, not evidence that either is a required or optimal pick.

Why Apex League PvP changes the choices
The available Apex League rules summary is community-maintained rather than an official current rules page. It reports similar base, weapon, Relic, advancement and enhancement stats between players, and says weapon resonance effects, Simulacrum traits and Matrix effects are disabled. It also reports reduced healing and unavailable Jetboards.
If those rules are in effect in your client, PvE bonuses based on resonance, traits or matrices should not be treated as an advantage in Apex League. Evaluate weapons more by their active kits and how they handle opponents under the arena rules than by their PvE stat synergies. Weapon choice still matters, but a PvE build cannot be transferred on the assumption that every bonus works the same way.

Because the detailed mode information comes from a community page and no official current rules page was identified, check the in-game Apex League rules before relying on specific balance details. Mode rules can change.
What carries over—and what does not
| Build consideration | PvE | Apex League PvP |
|---|---|---|
| Primary selection lens | Activity needs, role coverage and weapon kit | Weapon kit and matchup under arena rules |
| Resonance | Relevant; effects differ between solo and team play, according to the community weapon reference | Reported disabled by the community Apex League reference; verify in-game |
| Simulacrum traits and Matrix effects | Can inform PvE build choices | Reported disabled by the community Apex League reference; verify in-game |
| Stats and restrictions | Depends on the activity; no universal PvE setup is established here | Reference reports similar player stats, reduced healing and no Jetboards |
| What the evidence supports | Role-based, activity-sensitive team planning | A different ruleset and selection priorities—not a definitive weapon ranking |
Why there is no universal best team to copy
A weapon ranking only helps when it specifies the activity, roster, investment level and balance version. The available sources do not establish a sufficiently detailed, current comparison to name a settled best PvE or Apex League team. Treat lists that omit those conditions cautiously: an effective progression team is not automatically an effective arena team, and a weapon’s value can change when the mode disables build bonuses.

Version matters, too. The official 6.3 announcement is dated September 10, 2026, while the community build tool records a weapon-related changelog entry for Zoey on September 26, 2026. That tool shows how frequently build data can be updated; it is not an official balance authority or proof of an optimal team. A practical way to choose weapons for each mode
- Identify the mode and objective. Separate the PvE activity you are preparing for from Apex League rather than treating “best team” as one question.
- For PvE, assign the job first. Decide whether the situation calls for damage, healing, tanking or a balanced setup, then account for solo versus co-op resonance and your teammates’ roles.
- For Apex League, check the live rules. Confirm which bonuses and restrictions apply in-game; the community summary is useful context, but not an official current rules source.
- Re-evaluate weapons under that ruleset. In PvE, consider role and activity fit. In Apex League, focus on the weapon kit and opponent interactions rather than assuming resonance, traits or matrices provide their usual benefit.
- Use rankings only with context. Look for the mode, activity, date and assumptions behind any suggested team. The cited sources do not settle a current universal ranking.
