In High on Life, you can get weapon upgrades by buying them from shops such as Mr. Keeps or finding them in Luglox crates. Acquired upgrades equip automatically. Weapon mods are different: you need to equip those yourself.
Where to get weapon upgrades
You have two main routes. Shops let you choose from the upgrades they currently sell; Luglox crates offer rewards as you explore, but their contents are less predictable.

Check shops for a specific item
When you know which upgrade you want, check Mr. Keeps and other shops. Their stock depends on story progress, so an item may not be available at every point in the game. Purchases cost in-game Pesos.
Open Luglox crates as you explore
Luglox rewards can include upgrades, but a crate is not a reliable way to target one particular item. The community list, for example, associates Sweezy’s Spare Crystalnode with a Deep Jungle Luglox and Creature’s Postpartum Psycheboost with Luglox rewards in Blim City and Old Town. Treat these as location examples, not a complete or guaranteed progression route.

Do upgrades equip automatically?
Yes. The Game8 guide says acquired upgrades equip automatically, so you do not need to select each upgrade after buying or finding it. Mods are a separate category and must be equipped manually. The available guide information does not establish exact menu paths or button inputs for every platform.
What upgrades change
The effect depends on the item. Upgrades can improve damage, reload speed, magazine capacity, or a weapon’s special-ability cooldown. Examples in the community-maintained upgrade list include:

- Creature: Superovaries improve reload speed, while Womb Chamber increases magazine capacity.
These are examples, not a complete inventory or a guaranteed order in which upgrades become available. The wiki’s table is community-maintained and may not reflect every current game detail.
How weapon mods differ
Upgrades and mods are not interchangeable. The cited guides describe upgrades as automatic once acquired, while mods need to be equipped manually. Mods can also change how a weapon works rather than simply improve a stat. For example, the Mr. Keep’s Pawn Shop wiki page describes Kenny’s Bounceflector as changing his primary shots, Gus’s Goopsuck as changing his vacuum ability, and Sweezy’s Remote Detonator as letting you detonate embedded crystals by reloading.

Does Lezduit have upgrades?
The community upgrade list says Lezduit has no upgrades or mods. This is a guide-listed detail, rather than a claim established by official documentation.
