To upload a Conan Exiles world, stop the destination server, back up its current database, then replace the server’s map database with your local save through SFTP or the host’s file manager. Exiled Lands uses game.db; Isle of Siptah uses the map-specific Siptah database, shown as DLC_Siptah.db or dlc_siptah.db in different documentation. Restart the server and verify your characters, buildings, inventories, and progression.

The operation is a database replacement, not an additive import. Uploading the wrong map file or skipping a backup can make the existing server world unavailable, so identify the map and preserve a rollback copy before transferring anything.

What you need before uploading
Have the local save, access to the destination server, and a recovery plan ready before you connect.
- A stopped destination server. Never overwrite a live Conan Exiles database.
- A backup of the destination world. Keep the existing database somewhere outside the server’s live save directory.
- The correct local database. Open your PC installation’s
ConanSandboxSavedfolder and identify the file for the map you intend to run. - File access. Use your host’s browser file manager or SFTP credentials. The exact remote directory differs by provider.
- Compatible software. Keep the client and server on compatible versions, use the same map, and install the mods required by the save.
A local single-player or co-op save can be moved to a dedicated server because the world state is stored in the database file. The dedicated server must load the matching map database and have any required mods available.

Match the database to the map
Do not choose a database by file size or date alone. Match the filename to the map selected in the server configuration.

Documentation uses different capitalization for the Siptah filename. Select the Siptah database that actually exists in your save and server directories, and preserve the spelling displayed by your host’s file manager. The important distinction is the map-specific database: uploading Exiled Lands game.db for a Siptah server will not migrate the intended world.

1. Stop the destination server
Open the hosting control panel and choose the server’s stop command. Wait until the panel reports that the process is fully stopped. EmeraldHost’s documented sequence begins with stopping the server before an SFTP transfer, because a running process can keep the database open or write a newer state after you copy the file.
2. Back up the current server world
Use the panel’s backup function if one is available, or download the current database through SFTP/file manager before replacing it. Name the copy with the map and date, such as game.db-before-local-upload, and store it away from the live save directory. EmeraldHost recommends creating a backup when the current save must be retained. XGamingServer documents numbered automatic files such as game_backup_1.db; automatic-backup names and retention differ by host, so confirm that a usable copy exists rather than assuming one was created.
3. Locate the local save on your PC
Open the Conan Exiles installation’s ConanSandboxSaved directory. Gravel Host identifies game.db as the save file for the standard Exiled Lands world. If you played Isle of Siptah, locate the corresponding Siptah database instead. Copy the file to a separate temporary folder before uploading so you retain an untouched local copy.
4. Confirm the destination map
Check the map selected by the server and compare it with the database you found locally. Use game.db for Exiled Lands. Use the Siptah database for Isle of Siptah. If the server is configured for one map and you upload the other map’s database, the server may start with the wrong world or fail to present the save you expect.

5. Connect with the host’s file manager or SFTP
Open the host panel’s file browser, or connect with the SFTP host, port, username, and password supplied by the provider. Navigate to the Conan Exiles save directory. Paths are host-specific: EmeraldHost documents /ConanSandbox/Saved/game.db, while Gravel Host documents a /server-data/ layout. A different provider may place the same database beneath another server-data or game directory, so use the panel’s displayed path rather than assuming either example applies to your account.
6. Upload and overwrite the matching database
Upload the local database into the destination directory and confirm the overwrite when prompted. For Exiled Lands, replace the server’s game.db with the local game.db. For Siptah, replace the corresponding Siptah database. Gravel Host explicitly instructs administrators to upload game.db and overwrite the server copy; XGamingServer warns that importing replaces the existing save. Do not delete the backup you made in step 2.
7. Start and verify the world
Start the server from the control panel and wait for it to finish booting. Join the intended map, then check the items most likely to reveal a wrong or stale database:
- Your expected character names and levels.
- Known buildings, bases, and map locations.
- Inventories, containers, and stored resources.
- Progression, feats, quests, and other world state you recognize.
If those checks match the local game, the migration has loaded the uploaded save. If the server shows a fresh world, stop it before making further changes and follow the recovery steps below.

Where the important files live
Local PC save directory
The local save is under ConanSandboxSaved within the PC installation. The standard Exiled Lands database is game.db. Isle of Siptah uses its own database file rather than the Exiled Lands file.
Remote database directory
There is no universal host path. Examples documented by providers include /ConanSandbox/Saved/game.db in EmeraldHost’s guide and a /server-data/ location in Gravel Host’s guide. In a file manager, search within the server’s Conan Exiles data directory for the existing database; in SFTP, use the path shown in your provider’s setup instructions.

Server configuration directory
Funcom’s dedicated-server documentation places server configuration under ConanSandboxSavedConfigWindowsServer. Configuration files are separate from the world database, so replacing the database does not by itself copy server settings, passwords, rates, or mod configuration from your local game.
Moving a single-player or co-op save
The database transfer carries the saved world represented by that file. Before uploading, make sure the dedicated server is prepared to run the same map and the same required mods as the local game.
Use the same map
An Exiled Lands save belongs in game.db; an Isle of Siptah save belongs in the Siptah database. Do not rename one map’s database to disguise it as the other.
Align versions and mods
Keep the client and dedicated server on compatible game versions. Install the mods required by the save on the server and use a compatible load order. A database can be intact yet appear unusable when the server lacks content or mods that the world expects.
Expect server settings to remain separate
Your local world file does not automatically reproduce every dedicated-server setting. Review the server’s configuration under ConanSandboxSavedConfigWindowsServer and set the options you want on the dedicated instance.
Check ownership and access after the first login
Join with the intended account and inspect a known base, container, and character. This confirms that the uploaded world is active rather than a newly generated database.

Backups, overwrite risk, and rollback
Uploading is destructive to the destination copy: the uploaded file replaces the server’s current world database. A rollback is straightforward only if the previous database was preserved.
- Stop the server.
- Rename or remove the currently active database only after confirming that your backup is safely stored.
- Upload the preserved pre-migration database back to the exact save directory.
- Restore the filename expected by the map, such as
game.db. - Start the server and verify the earlier world.
If your provider creates numbered automatic backups, identify which number corresponds to the time before the import. XGamingServer’s example naming includes game_backup_1.db, but numbering and retention are provider-specific. Download an important backup instead of relying solely on automatic rotation.
Troubleshooting an upload that does not work
The server loads a new character or empty map
Stop the server immediately. Confirm that the upload went to the active save directory, that the filename is correct, and that the file belongs to the selected map. Check the timestamp and size shown by the file manager. If the wrong file was uploaded, restore the pre-upload backup and repeat the transfer to the correct path.

Verify that you uploaded the Siptah database, not Exiled Lands game.db, and that the server is configured to start Isle of Siptah. Keep the exact Siptah filename used by the host; documentation may display it as DLC_Siptah.db or dlc_siptah.db.
The server fails to start after replacement
Stop the server, restore the backup, and start it once to confirm that the original database still works. Then check version compatibility, required mods, and file placement before attempting another import. Do not repeatedly overwrite the database while the cause is unknown.
Buildings or inventories are missing
Check that you joined the intended map and server instance. A successful boot can still point to a different database than the one you uploaded. Compare recognizable locations and containers with the local save, then inspect the upload path and filename.

The upload is rejected or incomplete
Use SFTP or the provider’s browser file manager as supported by the host, and wait for the transfer to finish before starting the server. Confirm that you have write permission in the save directory and enough storage for the database and its backup.

For a self-managed PC server, Funcom directs administrators to install Conan Exiles Dedicated Server from Steam’s tools. Funcom’s documentation identifies default ports 7777 for game traffic and 27015 for query traffic. If players cannot connect after a successful database import, check that the server is running and that these ports, or your chosen replacements, are correctly exposed in the firewall and network configuration.
Funcom’s 2017 setup article gives the following example resource figures. They are historical sizing examples, not a guarantee for every current build, mod set, or player workload.

These figures concern server setup capacity, not the upload itself. The migration still requires enough free storage to hold the active database and at least one backup.
Choosing a host for future world transfers
If you expect to move worlds again, evaluate the operational features that affect database imports rather than looking only at headline player slots.

A host that clearly documents its active database path and offers both file transfer and rollback controls reduces the chance of replacing the wrong world.
