To upload classic clothing, prepare a T-shirt, shirt, or pants image, test it on a Block Avatar rig in Roblox Studio, then submit it in Creator Dashboard → Avatar Items → Classics. Roblox documents an 80 Robux upload fee per submission and a separate 10 Robux publishing advance; check the live Marketplace policy before uploading or putting an item on sale.
Choose a classic clothing type
Classic clothing is a 2D image applied to an avatar. A T-shirt appears on the front of the torso; a shirt covers the upper body and arms; pants cover the lower body and legs. Shirts and pants use mapped template regions, while a T-shirt is a square front-torso overlay.

Classic clothing is not compatible with every avatar: Roblox notes that many user-generated Marketplace avatars do not support 2D classic clothing. See Roblox’s Marketplace asset categories for category information.
Prepare the image
For a T-shirt
Create a square image. Roblox gives 512 × 512 pixels as an example. Keep the design within the area intended to show on the front of the torso.

For a shirt or pants
Download the appropriate template from the Roblox classic clothing guide, unzip it, and edit it in an image editor. The template lays out body regions with specific dimensions: 128 × 128 front and back blocks, 64 × 128 side blocks, 128 × 64 top and bottom regions, and 64 × 64 squares for the tops and bottoms of arms and legs. Follow the template’s guides so artwork lands on the intended body panels. Export the finished image as PNG or JPG before testing.
Test the design in Roblox Studio
Roblox recommends testing classic clothing in Studio before uploading or selling it. The documented test does not require a fee. A Block Avatar rig makes it easier to inspect how the template maps onto the body and where seams meet.

- In Studio, open Avatar → Character and choose a Block Avatar rig.
- Add the matching clothing object under the rig: ShirtGraphic for a T-shirt, Shirt for a shirt, or Pants for pants.
- Set its image property to your file: Graphic, ShirtTemplate, or PantsTemplate, respectively.
- Inspect the garment from different angles, especially panel alignment and seams around joints. Adjust the image if edges do not meet cleanly.
Check how separate pieces of artwork meet at the body boundaries. For example, shoe artwork placed too high on a pants template can appear to merge with the jeans.
Upload through Creator Dashboard
- Open Creator Dashboard → Avatar Items → Classics.
- Drop the image into the upload box or choose Upload Asset.
- Select T-Shirt, Shirt, or Pants, as appropriate.
- Enter a name and description, then submit the asset.
To check moderation status or adjust on-sale and price settings, return to the item in the Classics tab and open its configuration page.

Understand the fees and eligibility rules
Roblox lists two separate charges relevant to classic clothing. Its classic clothing guide states an 80 Robux upload fee per submission; the Marketplace fees page separately lists a 10 Robux publishing advance for classic T-shirts, shirts, and pants. The advance is not the upload fee. Consult the live Marketplace fees and commissions page before submitting, since fees may change.
Publishing access has additional requirements. Roblox’s current Marketplace policy says ID verification or a linked parental account is needed to upload from Studio or Creator Dashboard. It also says Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200 membership is required to publish content and keep it on sale. Check the policy again before publishing, because eligibility rules can change.

What to check before making it available
- Confirm that you selected the correct item type and used the shirt or pants template where required.
- Review the image on the Block Avatar rig for alignment, seams, and artwork that crosses onto the wrong body region.
- Check the asset’s moderation status and configuration in the Classics tab before adjusting whether it is on sale.
- Verify current fees and Marketplace eligibility on Roblox’s live documentation.
