1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe easiest way to use three monitors as one panoramic cockpit in Microsoft Flight Simulator on Windows PC is to combine them with NVIDIA Surround or AMD Eyefinity, then select the resulting ultra-wide resolution in the simulator. Three 1,920 × 1,080 displays, for example, appear as a single 5,760 × 1,080 desktop.
This guide covers MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 on Windows PC. It does not apply automatically to Xbox Series X|S or Xbox Cloud Gaming, and menu labels can change between simulator updates. Check the version shown by your launcher or title screen before following version-dependent in-game steps.

Before you begin
You need three monitors, a stable mounting arrangement, suitable cables, and a dedicated graphics card with three usable display outputs. Connect all three displays to the same GPU where possible. A desktop GPU is the safest arrangement; laptops, USB-C docks, DisplayLink adapters, integrated graphics, and mixed-GPU connections can impose bandwidth or feature limitations.
Matching monitors are strongly recommended. Use the same resolution, orientation, refresh rate, screen size, and—if possible—scaling percentage. Matching displays make driver-spanning, bezel alignment, and camera setup substantially easier.
#1 Best Overall
- Fit for Your Monitors - Each monitor arm can only accommodate a maximum size of 32 inches. Monitors larger than 32 inches are not compatible. And the monitor must have VESA mounting holes of either 75x75mm or 100x100mm. The weight range of the screen must be from 4.4 lbs to 17.6 lbs. We recommend that you carefully verify this information before making a purchase.
- Super Space Saver - Conveniently frees up more valuable work space by elevating 3 monitors off of your desk, making your workstation spacious and clutter-free.
- Customized For Optimal View - The arms allow easy to adjust monitors swivel, tilt and rotate to find an optimal view angle and position for comfortable work. Freely set your monitors to landscape or portrait mode!
- Increase Comfort & Efficiency - Complete your work in 3 monitors at the same times with comfortable view position. Now you can enhance your work efficiency in comfortable work posture.
- Two installation options - Two separate installation options are provided: C-clamp or grommet mount. C-clamp fits desk thickness 0.39-3.15", grommet mount fits desk thickness 0.39-2.36". Both options securely hold your monitor. Choose the installation method that suits your needs.
| Monitors | Combined resolution |
|---|---|
| 3 × 1,920 × 1,080 | 5,760 × 1,080 |
| 3 × 2,560 × 1,440 | 7,680 × 1,440 |
| 3 × 3,840 × 2,160 | 11,520 × 2,160 |
The GPU must render the combined pixel count, not just one monitor. Microsoft’s published MSFS 2024 specifications list general 4 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB VRAM tiers, with an “Ideal” tier including a GeForce RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 7900 XT, 64 GB RAM, and a Ryzen 9 7900X or Core i7-14700K. Those are general reference specifications, not guarantees for triple-monitor performance at any particular resolution. See Microsoft’s MSFS 2024 FAQ and its MSFS 2020 requirements.
Choose the right setup method
| Your goal | Best starting point |
|---|---|
| One continuous panoramic cockpit view | NVIDIA Surround or AMD Eyefinity |
| Three independent, deliberately positioned views | MSFS multi-monitor mode, if available in your build |
| Main outside view plus charts or instruments | Independent displays with pop-out panels |
| Different monitor resolutions | Extended mode or native multi-monitor mode |
| Severe side distortion with driver spanning | Try native multi-monitor mode or reduce the field of view |
Surround and Eyefinity make Windows and the game see one very wide display. This is normally the simplest way to fill all three screens in full-screen mode, but it may render one wide camera rather than three independently corrected cockpit cameras.

Extended mode leaves each monitor independently addressable. It is useful for instruments, charts, or multiple simulator windows, but setup is more complicated and behavior depends on the simulator build.
Pop-out panels are not the same as three outside views. They can display PFDs, MFDs, maps, ATC, checklists, or charts, and additional windows may affect performance.
Set up the monitors in Windows
- Close Microsoft Flight Simulator.
- Connect all three monitors to the dedicated GPU and turn them on.
- Open Settings > System > Display.
- Click Identify to match Windows’ numbers with the physical screens.
- Click Detect if a monitor is missing.
- Drag the display rectangles into the physical left-to-right order.
- Set all three screens to landscape orientation, the same resolution, and preferably the same refresh rate and scaling.
- Select the center screen and choose Make this my main display.
- Apply the settings and restart Windows if the display arrangement remains inconsistent.
Microsoft’s multiple-monitor guidance recommends checking connections and using Settings > System > Display > Multiple displays > Detect when a display does not appear.
NVIDIA Surround setup
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Open 3D Settings > Configure Surround, PhysX, or the similarly named Configure Surround entry in your driver.
- Enable Span displays with Surround.
- Click Configure.
- Select the three monitors and arrange their icons to match the physical layout.
- Choose landscape orientation, the combined resolution, and a compatible refresh rate.
- Use bezel correction if objects appear to jump across the gaps between screens.
- Apply the configuration and confirm that Windows now shows one very wide desktop.
NVIDIA documents the Surround process, including display arrangement, resolution, refresh rate, and bezel correction, in its Surround configuration guide.

Disable NVIDIA Surround
Press Windows + P and choose PC screen only or Extend. If the desktop is unusable, restart with the monitors connected, reopen NVIDIA Control Panel, disable Surround, and reactivate the displays under Display > Set up multiple displays. If a screen stays black, try 60 Hz or a lower resolution before recreating the group.
AMD Eyefinity setup
- Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.
- Open the display or multi-display section.
- Choose the Eyefinity configuration option.
- Select the three monitors.
- Choose a horizontal 3 × 1 layout.
- Confirm the physical order and orientation.
- Select the combined resolution and refresh rate.
- Apply the display group and verify that Windows treats it as one desktop.
AMD describes Eyefinity as a single large desktop surface created from two or more displays. Its example for three 1,920 × 1,080 screens is 5,760 × 1,080. See AMD’s Eyefinity support documentation.
Eyefinity groups must use displays supported by the same graphics system; AMD states that an Eyefinity group cannot span multiple graphics cards. To recover, disable the group, return to extended displays, match the monitors’ timing, and recreate the 3 × 1 group. If a screen flickers or fails to activate, test all displays at 60 Hz.

Configure Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Open MSFS Options and enter the graphics or display settings.
- Select the combined resolution created by Surround or Eyefinity.
- Choose full-screen or borderless mode, depending on which behaves better in your build.
- Set the aspect ratio to the resulting ultra-wide format if the simulator exposes that control.
- Load a flight and recenter the cockpit view.
- Adjust field of view in small increments.
- Check the center view, side screens, runway edges, taxiway lines, and cockpit instruments.
The exact MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 menu labels are version-dependent. If your build exposes a control named Multi-Monitor, Multiple Monitors, or an experimental multi-monitor option under the graphics settings, you can test the native approach instead: enable it, add or assign the left, center, and right displays, set their positions and resolutions, apply the changes, and restart if requested. Do not assume this menu exists or behaves identically in every installation.
Native multi-monitor configurations can provide more deliberate camera placement, but user reports have described issues such as moved windows, mirrored views, settings changes, and large performance differences. Treat those reports as anecdotal and record your simulator build when troubleshooting. The official MSFS SDK documentation hub is useful for checking version-specific documentation.
Align the cockpit and reduce distortion
Place the center monitor directly in front of your seat. Angle the side screens inward so the three panels follow a shallow cockpit curve. Keep their horizontal centerlines and viewing heights aligned, and sit at a consistent distance from the center display.
Bezel correction compensates for the physical gaps between monitors. It improves continuity but changes the effective desktop area, so the usable image may no longer match the simple resolution sum. Reapply it after changing the monitor order, resolution, or refresh rate.

Driver spanning is convenient, but a single wide camera can stretch the side screens. Warning signs include curved runway edges, exaggerated fisheye distortion, or cockpit instruments that look unusually wide. Reduce the FOV, adjust the seat and camera position, and angle the side displays inward. If the result remains uncomfortable, test native multi-monitor mode. A wider FOV improves peripheral awareness but can make the center view feel zoomed out and reduce instrument readability.
Improve performance
Triple-screen load is determined by total rendered pixels, GPU and CPU performance, VRAM, terrain and object detail, traffic, weather, glass-cockpit refresh, and extra windows. Test both a simple flight and a demanding airport; performance can differ substantially between cruise and dense scenery.
- Confirm that MSFS is using the dedicated GPU.
- Reduce render scaling modestly.
- Lower terrain and object level of detail.
- Reduce clouds and shadow quality.
- Reduce traffic and airport vehicle settings.
- Lower glass-cockpit refresh rate.
- Close unnecessary pop-out windows.
- Only after the basic setup is stable, test upscaling or frame generation.
- Monitor GPU memory, GPU frame time, CPU main-thread time, and stutters.
- Save a separate graphics profile for triple-screen flights.
Microsoft’s performance guidance includes dedicated-GPU configuration steps for NVIDIA and AMD systems. There is no universal FPS penalty: aircraft, airport, weather, traffic, settings, resolution, and simulator version all matter.

One monitor is missing
Check the cable, monitor input, GPU output, adapter or dock, and whether the screen is connected to the motherboard instead of the dedicated GPU. Use Windows Detect, then restart. Unsupported resolution, refresh rate, or cable bandwidth can also prevent activation.

Use Windows Identify, drag the displays into physical order, repeat the arrangement in Surround or Eyefinity, and make the center screen primary.
The screens go black after enabling the display group
Press Windows + P and select PC screen only or Extend. If necessary, restart, disable Surround or Eyefinity in the driver, and recreate the group at a lower resolution or 60 Hz.
The sides look stretched
Reduce FOV, adjust the camera, angle the side monitors inward, and test the simulator’s native multi-monitor mode. A driver-spanned desktop does not necessarily provide three physically corrected camera frustums.

FPS is too low
Lower render scaling first, then terrain/object detail, clouds, traffic, and glass-cockpit refresh. Check dedicated-GPU usage and VRAM, and remove unnecessary pop-out windows. If the GPU cannot sustain the combined resolution, use a lower resolution, lower refresh rate, or fewer active displays.
Settings reset or move between modes
Save or photograph working settings, test both Free Flight and Career mode if using MSFS 2024, restart after changing the display topology, and record the simulator and driver versions. User reports describe version-dependent multiple-window problems, but they do not establish a universal defect.
Best approach for different users
- Beginners: Use three matching 1080p monitors with Surround or Eyefinity at 60 Hz first.
- NVIDIA owners: Start with NVIDIA Surround.
- AMD owners: Start with AMD Eyefinity.
- Instrument-panel users: Keep independent displays and use pop-out panels.
- Mixed-monitor owners: Try extended or native multi-monitor mode instead of forcing one driver-spanned surface.
- High-resolution users: Calculate the combined resolution before buying monitors and allow substantial GPU and VRAM headroom.
- Laptop users: Verify GPU routing, dock compatibility, cable bandwidth, supported refresh rates, and whether all outputs are driven by the same GPU.
FAQ
Can three different monitors work?
They may work in extended mode, but different resolutions, sizes, refresh rates, and scaling make a clean panoramic setup harder. Matching monitors are preferable.
Do all three monitors need the same resolution?
Not always, but Surround and Eyefinity are simplest with matching resolutions and timings. Mixed displays may require extended or native simulator mode.
Can a laptop run three monitors?
Possibly, but the dock, adapters, GPU routing, bandwidth, and refresh-rate support must be verified. Three outputs from one dedicated desktop GPU are the safest baseline.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Is Surround better than native multi-monitor mode?
Surround is usually easier for one panoramic full-screen view. Native mode may offer better control over separate camera views, but availability and stability vary by MSFS build.
Can triple monitors work on Xbox?
This guide is for Windows PC. Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming do not provide the same desktop GPU and multi-display configuration environment.
How do I return to a normal desktop?
Disable Surround or Eyefinity and return Windows to extended mode, or use Windows + P and select PC screen only.
The Bottom Line
For most Windows PC pilots, connect three matching monitors to one dedicated GPU, arrange them in Windows, create an NVIDIA Surround or AMD Eyefinity 3 × 1 group, select the combined resolution in MSFS, and tune FOV and graphics settings gradually. If the panoramic view is badly distorted or the performance is unacceptable, revert to extended displays and test the simulator’s version-dependent native multi-monitor or pop-out workflow.
