Yes—a mini PC can run a continuous Hindu devotional YouTube stream using OBS or another encoder, provided it can sustain your chosen video settings and internet connection. The form factor alone does not prove it can handle the job: configure and test the complete setup before relying on it, and clear the rights to every recording and visual you stream.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says the channel must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before launch.
- A mini PC running an operating system supported by your encoder, with hardware capable of sustaining the encoder settings you choose.
- An encoder such as OBS Studio, a stable upload connection, and the video and audio you are authorized to broadcast.
- A plan for monitoring the stream and recovering from a computer, encoder, or network interruption.
OBS Project’s System Requirements page, published August 25, 2021, cautions that a compatible system is not necessarily capable of streaming or recording with OBS. OBS performance depends on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. No mini PC model is established here as suitable without testing.
Choose a mini PC for the actual workload
Check encoder compatibility, not just basic software compatibility
Confirm that the operating system and graphics hardware support the encoder you intend to use. If you plan to use hardware encoding, verify that the mini PC supports the codec and settings you select; do not assume that a graphics chip or a specification sheet guarantees a stable 24/7 stream.
Keep the devotional production as simple as it needs to be
A static image with audio is a simpler scene than a multi-scene production with animated overlays and several live sources. That may reduce the workload, but it is not a performance guarantee. Start with the intended video, audio, and scene layout, then check CPU or encoder load, temperatures, dropped frames, and uninterrupted audio over a prolonged test.

Evaluate the installation as well as the computer
For a device that will run unattended, consider its cooling and noise in the room where it will operate, the reliability of its network connection, and whether it is practical to service if something fails. These are purchasing considerations, not a guarantee that any particular mini PC will remain online continuously. A wired connection is a sensible choice where practical, but no cable, router, or internet provider guarantees uptime.
Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube
- Enable live streaming early. Verify the YouTube channel and confirm that it is eligible to stream. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Prepare your scene in OBS. Add the devotional video or image and audio sources you intend to use. Run OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point, not as proof that the mini PC can sustain the final settings.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream and obtain its server URL and stream key. YouTube may label the server URL as a stream URL.
- Enter the connection details in OBS. In OBS’s stream settings, select the service or custom RTMP option appropriate to the YouTube connection, then enter the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube rather than continuing to use a compromised key.
- Configure the encoder. Match its codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio, and keyframe interval to your hardware and connection. Recommended YouTube settings are outlined below.
- Test before going public. Start an unlisted or otherwise non-public test stream, check that the YouTube preview contains both picture and sound, and review stream-health messages before switching to the intended broadcast.
Choose stream settings and upload capacity
Start with settings your mini PC and connection can sustain
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS transport; H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; and constant bitrate (CBR). Use only a video codec that your encoder and hardware support. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds.

For reference, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps video bitrate for H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps. This is a recommendation for that specific video setting, not a universal requirement or the full internet bandwidth needed. YouTube lists 128 Kbps as its recommended stereo-audio bitrate. A devotional image or recording may not need 1080p/30, but choose a lower resolution or frame rate only if it remains suitable for the content and stable on your actual setup.
Leave upload headroom
YouTube advises that the total stream bitrate fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends 20% headroom. If you use the 5 Mbps H.264 video setting above with 128 Kbps stereo audio, the combined audio and video bitrate is about 5.13 Mbps. Adding 20% gives roughly 6.2 Mbps of sustained upload capacity as a planning figure. It is not a guaranteed minimum: network overhead, speed variation, and other devices using the connection can require more.

Measure outbound upload capacity rather than relying on download speed. Test at the time and location the stream will run, and reduce competing traffic where possible. A shared or unstable connection can leave less bandwidth for the stream; a network interruption can break it.
Test continuity and plan for failures
Monitor the stream before leaving it unattended
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance recommends setting up well before the broadcast, checking the preview, and monitoring audio and video while live. During your extended test, watch OBS for dropped frames or encoder overload and check YouTube’s stream health and messages. Confirm that the devotional audio does not stop, drift out of sync, or unexpectedly switch sources.

Understand what one mini PC can—and cannot—protect against
A single mini PC, one internet connection, and an unattended loop do not amount to an uptime guarantee. If uninterrupted broadcasting matters, consider a separately configured backup encoder and test it before depending on it. YouTube’s live-streaming tips describe testing backup behavior by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet connection and checking whether the player rolls over to the backup. A backup should be tested with your own stream configuration; do not assume it will take over automatically.
Common problems and what to check
- YouTube does not accept the connection: Check that live streaming is enabled, the correct server URL and current stream key are entered, and the encoder is using a supported transport and codec.
- The preview is missing audio or video: Check the OBS scene sources, audio meters, selected devices, and YouTube preview before making the stream public.
- Dropped frames or poor stream health: Compare the total stream bitrate with sustained upload capacity, leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, reduce competing traffic, or lower the encoder bitrate or video settings.
- The mini PC struggles during encoding: Check whether its encoder supports your chosen codec and settings. Reduce resolution, frame rate, or scene complexity, then repeat the extended test; baseline compatibility alone does not establish sustained capacity.
- The broadcast stops when the network or computer fails: Restore the connection or encoder and reconnect using the valid stream setup. If you need a fallback, configure and test a backup encoder in advance; do not treat an unattended single-PC setup as automatic failover.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast over third-party content: Review the audio and visuals for rights issues and, if you have a license, check whether the rights holder must add your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
Clear rights to the devotional music and visuals
Religious subject matter does not remove copyright obligations. You need the necessary rights for the exact music recording, composition, images, artwork, and other material in the stream. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the operator, or temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream if the material remains. A copyright strike can also terminate a live stream.

A license does not always prevent an automated interruption. YouTube says that when a creator has licensed third-party content, the rights holder may need to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Check this with the rights holder before broadcasting.
Keep records of permissions for the exact recording and composition, territories, use, and whether the live stream or its archive is covered. Rights requirements can depend on jurisdiction and the specific license; this is a practical checklist, not legal advice or a determination that one license covers every use.
Do not assume a 24/7 loop will qualify for monetization
Keeping a stream live does not guarantee monetization. YouTube applies its originality, reused-content, and inauthentic-content policies at the channel level, including to live streams. In a July 15, 2025 update, YouTube clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is covered by its inauthentic-content policy. Repetitive, interchangeable uploads with little educational, narrative, or other value may not qualify; reused recordings may need meaningful original commentary or substantive modification to make the channel’s contribution clear.
Copyright and monetization are separate questions: permission to use a recording does not by itself establish that a channel meets YouTube Partner Program policies. Build a clear original contribution into the channel and review the current rules and eligibility in YouTube Studio. YouTube makes the channel-level decision; hardware and stream settings cannot guarantee it.
