The boost temporarily improves the performance of all your cars, rather than applying a permanent upgrade to one car.
Activate a Tuning Kit before a race

From the main menu, start opening a race. Before the race begins, the Boosts screen appears.

If you received a Tuning Kit as a gift or reward, select it on the Boosts screen to activate it. If you buy one there, it activates automatically.

To reach the Boosts area without opening a race, open the store from the main menu and select its Boosts tab. Menu availability and labels can vary because Gameloft’s support instructions include legacy interface details. Gameloft’s Asphalt 8 FAQ

Check that the boost is active
Look for the Tuning Kit boost icon and countdown timer on the main menu or Boosts screen. The official support page describes the effect as lasting “for a limited time”; check the timer shown for your item rather than relying on a fixed duration. Gameloft says that activating another Tuning Kit while one is running adds its time to the countdown. Gameloft’s Asphalt 8 FAQ
What the Tuning Kit changes
Gameloft describes the Tuning Kit as a temporary performance boost for all cars, with an effect equivalent to buying one upgrade of each type. This is a description of the boost’s effect, not a stated percentage increase. Gameloft’s Asphalt 8 FAQ

Tuning Kit boosts and Pro Kit cards are different

| Pro Kit cards | Resources used for upgrades to a particular car; requirements depend on the car and upgrade system. | Open the Garage’s Tuning section and then Pro Kits, as described by Gameloft Help Center. |
If you mean cards rather than the temporary boost, check the upgrade requirements shown for your car. Gameloft notes that some cars no longer require Pro Kit cards, and its Update 55 notes document changes to upgrade requirements. The exact requirements can differ from older instructions or screenshots.

Asphalt 8’s interface and upgrade systems have changed over time. Gameloft’s 2021 interview about the game’s redesign describes how the interface had become overcomplicated as features were added. Use the options currently displayed in your game, and consult its Help or Information panel for a car’s specific card requirements instead of assuming an older menu path still applies.
