To send a text message in a Roblox experience on Xbox, press the controller’s Menu button, select Chat, type with the on-screen keyboard, then press R2 to send. Roblox also supports a USB or Bluetooth keyboard as an optional way to enter text. Voice Chat is a separate feature with age, experience, account, and regional requirements.
Send a text message on Roblox Xbox
- Join a Roblox experience that has in-experience chat enabled.
- Press the Menu button on your Xbox controller.
- Select Chat.
- Type your message with the on-screen keyboard.
- Press R2 to send.
If typing with a controller is inconvenient, Roblox documents a USB or Bluetooth keyboard as an alternative. A keyboard is optional; Roblox’s documented controller flow uses the on-screen keyboard. Use Voice Chat on Xbox
Roblox says Voice Chat is available on Xbox, but it only works in experiences that support it. For first-time use, you must be at least 13 and complete an ID verification or Facial Age Estimation age check. Once eligible, enable Voice Chat in the settings of a supporting experience or select the headphone icon. Roblox does not name a particular headset model in its Xbox instructions. Voice Chat may not be available in some regions, and verification methods may not be offered to every account. Roblox’s Voice FAQ says eligible, age-checked users 13 and older can use voice in experiences where developers have enabled it. Roblox Voice Chat FAQ

Why chat or the voice control may be missing
- No Chat option: The experience may not enable chat, or an age check, privacy setting, age-group rule, parental-consent requirement, or regional restriction may limit access.
- No headphone icon or Voice Chat setting: Check that you meet the age-check requirement and that the experience supports voice. Account or regional availability can also affect access.
- Text entry is difficult: Use the on-screen keyboard or try a USB or Bluetooth keyboard.
Roblox currently requires users to complete an age check before accessing communication features. Users ages 5–9 need parental consent to enable Experience chat; users under 16 need parental consent to enable Direct chat. Access and settings can vary by region. Roblox says Experience chat is filtered. You can manage communication settings and use block, mute, and report tools. Roblox also says its Community Standards apply to friend voice and chat, where filtering is more limited; avoid sharing sensitive personal information.
