You can use Larix Broadcaster to send a YouTube Live feed from a phone connected to Ethernet over USB-C: connect a compatible adapter and wired network, enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in Larix, then verify the picture and sound in Live Control Room before going on air. A wired link changes how the phone connects to the network; it does not guarantee a more stable broadcast. Compatibility depends on the phone, operating system, adapter and power arrangement.
What you need before connecting
- A phone and operating system that support USB Ethernet. Apple documents USB-to-Ethernet adapter connections for USB-C iPhones, but that does not certify every third-party adapter. Android compatibility depends on the particular device and OS; do not assume an iPhone-compatible adapter will work with an Android phone. Apple’s USB-C connection guidance also cautions that accessories and cables that do not comply with USB-C standards may not work as expected.
- A USB-C-to-Ethernet adapter, an Ethernet cable and a working wired network. Check the adapter’s documented compatibility with your exact handset and OS, its link-speed support, whether it needs external power, and whether you need pass-through charging. No adapter model is established here as universally compatible or best.
- Larix Broadcaster and access to YouTube Studio. YouTube lists Larix as a mobile encoder for iOS and Android. YouTube’s encoder instructions note that enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours.
If the setup depends on a hub, powered adapter or charging pass-through, verify that complete arrangement with your phone before a time-sensitive broadcast; compatibility of those combinations is not established by the cited guidance.
Connect the phone to Ethernet
- Connect the USB-C Ethernet adapter to the phone.
- Plug the Ethernet cable into the adapter and into your router, switch or other wired network connection.
- Check that the phone recognizes the wired connection. If it does not, consult the phone and adapter documentation, confirm the adapter is supported by that device and OS, and check any power requirements. Do not treat a physical fit as proof of compatibility.
A wired path can avoid relying on Wi-Fi between the phone and router, but it cannot fix upstream congestion, inadequate upload capacity, router problems or YouTube ingest issues.
Create or select a YouTube Live stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create a stream or select the one you intend to use.
- Copy the stream’s server URL and stream key from YouTube’s encoder setup.
- Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.
If live streaming has not previously been enabled for your YouTube account, allow up to 24 hours for initial activation, as stated in YouTube Help.

Configure Larix Broadcaster
- In Larix, add a connection and open its connection settings.
- Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the format Larix specifies for the Connection URL field. Larix’s official documentation explains that the YouTube RTMP address combines the server/application URL with the stream name or key; follow its current instructions rather than guessing at separators or modifying the values.
- Select video-plus-audio mode if you need to send both picture and sound, and choose a bitrate appropriate for your available upload capacity. The cited setup guidance does not prescribe one bitrate for every phone, resolution or network, so do not copy a universal number without checking the encoder and YouTube guidance for your intended stream.
- Save the connection and review the selected camera, microphone and orientation before starting.
Current Larix app listings describe RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube Live and adaptive-bitrate streaming support on Android, and adaptive-bitrate support on iOS. These app capabilities do not confirm that a particular USB-C Ethernet adapter is compatible or guarantee stable delivery on a particular network. See the Google Play listing and App Store listing for their platform-specific descriptions.
Run a preflight before the broadcast
- Start Larix and confirm that YouTube Live Control Room receives the feed.
- Check that the video is visible and correctly oriented, and that the microphone or other intended audio source is audible.
- Watch the connection status and preview long enough to catch an immediate connection or audio problem. Confirm the intended stream is selected before starting the actual event.
- If the feed fails, stop and check the adapter connection, network path, server URL and stream key. Correct the issue and verify the preview again rather than assuming the broadcast is reaching viewers.
Test the exact phone, adapter, power setup, network and Larix configuration you plan to use. The available documentation supports USB-to-Ethernet connections on USB-C iPhones and identifies Larix as a YouTube mobile encoder, but it does not establish universal adapter compatibility or prove that Ethernet will make a given stream stable.

Troubleshoot common problems
The phone does not recognize Ethernet
Check whether the phone and OS support USB Ethernet and whether the adapter is documented for that exact device. Inspect the cable and connectors, and verify whether the adapter requires power. Apple’s compatibility statement applies to USB-C iPhones; it should not be generalized to Android phones.
YouTube does not receive a feed
Confirm that live streaming is enabled for the account, the correct stream is open in Live Control Room, and Larix has the matching server URL and stream key. If live streaming is newly enabled, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours.

The video arrives but audio does not
Check Larix’s selected audio source and confirm that the connection is configured for video plus audio. Verify sound in YouTube’s incoming preview before the event.
The stream still drops or stutters over Ethernet
Ethernet does not remove problems elsewhere in the path. Check available upload capacity, router and upstream network conditions, and YouTube’s incoming status. Larix’s listed adaptive-bitrate capability may help it respond to changing conditions, but it is not a guarantee of a stable result.

A hub or charging setup behaves differently
Test that exact combination in advance. Support for a USB-to-Ethernet adapter alone does not establish that every hub, pass-through charger or cable configuration will work.
