Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYou can use OBS Studio to send a Tamil devotional playlist to YouTube Live, but a true 24/7 broadcast depends on your computer, power, internet connection, OBS, and media source staying available. First verify that your channel can go live, clear the streaming rights for every recording and visual, create a YouTube stream, then configure and test OBS. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours; it does not promise one replay for a continuous 24-hour broadcast.
Before you set up OBS
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility
Your channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube states that streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so check YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room well before the intended start. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup steps.
Confirm rights for the recordings and visuals
Use only music and artwork you have permission to broadcast. A devotional subject, traditional melody, publicly accessible upload, or a recording already available on YouTube does not by itself make that specific recording free to rebroadcast. Confirm that your permission covers livestreaming, the relevant territories, and any replay or archive you intend to keep.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A matched broadcast may be replaced, interrupted, or terminated. Even if you have a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for the stream to proceed without a match-related interruption. Keep written evidence of your rights and ask the owner about allowlisting when applicable. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Create the YouTube Live stream
-
In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Create a new stream or schedule one, and fill in its title, description, visibility, and other event details.
-
Open the stream in Live Control Room. If you are not connecting OBS through its YouTube service integration, copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS when prompted. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your event. Do not post it in a video, public chat, or screenshot.
-
Check the Live Control Room before the planned start. If live streaming has not yet been enabled on the channel, activation may take up to 24 hours.

Build a playlist scene in OBS
Add a visual and audio source
Create one scene for the broadcast. Add a background image or designed visual, then optionally add text such as a Tamil title, artist, or devotional identifier. Add the media or audio source that will play your recordings. OBS lets you arrange image, text, and media sources in a scene; consult the OBS Studio Overview Guide for the basic scene and source concepts.
Watch the OBS audio mixer while playing a test recording. The relevant audio meter should move, and the source must be routed to the stream rather than only to local monitoring. Check for clipping, silence, and unintended desktop audio. Use a representative section of the playlist, including quiet and loud passages, to set a usable level.

Make looping behavior explicit and test it
There is no single universal OBS playlist recipe established for every media source and configuration. The precise repeat or playlist controls depend on the source and setup you choose. Test the end of one track, the transition to the next, and what happens when the final item ends. If your chosen source does not reliably advance and repeat, change the media source or use a playlist method you have tested rather than assuming the scene will loop on its own.
Set OBS output for a stable stream
Choose resolution and frame rate for the connection
For a mostly static devotional visual, 30 frames per second is a sensible starting point; 60 fps is not needed just because the encoder can produce it. Choose a resolution your upload connection can sustain. A stable 720p30 stream can be preferable to a 1080p stream that repeatedly drops frames or disconnects.
Recommended Free Tools
Use YouTube’s encoder recommendations
- Protocol: use RTMPS where available.
- Rate control: set CBR.
- Keyframes: set a 2-second interval; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Audio: use AAC or MP3.
- 1080p30 H.264 bitrate: YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists 5 Mbps as the minimum and 14 Mbps as recommended. These are ingestion figures, not a guarantee of the quality each viewer will receive.
Use the codec-specific figures in YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for other resolutions and codecs. Run an upload-speed test under conditions similar to the broadcast, and leave headroom rather than setting the stream at the full measured upload rate. The connection has to sustain the stream continuously, not just briefly reach the target.

Test, start, and monitor the broadcast
-
Before making the event public, start OBS and confirm that YouTube receives the encoder feed in Live Control Room and reports healthy stream status.
-
Check a representative visual and audio passage in the preview. Confirm that text is readable, the image is not cropped, and the audio is present at a consistent level.
-
View the stream from another device or browser to check the actual viewer experience, not only the OBS preview.

During operation, watch both YouTube stream health and the computer’s audio and media playback. OBS includes an automatic reconnect option, but test its behavior in your own setup before relying on it.
A 24/7 stream relies on the computer, power, network, OBS process, media source, and YouTube connection all remaining available. Arrange human checks for stream health and, if you are recording locally, recording status and available storage. No setup can be assumed uninterrupted without testing over the conditions in which you plan to run it.
Plan the replay and local recording separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise a single automatic replay for a continuous broadcast longer than 12 hours. If an automatic replay matters, consider shorter sessions. If you need your own copy, use OBS recording options and check that your computer has enough storage and can sustain long recordings; test the intended duration and file workflow rather than assuming a 24-hour file will be saved successfully. See YouTube’s encoder setup page and the OBS guide.
Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | What to check | Practical fix |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the stream | Channel live eligibility, activation status, selected YouTube event, stream URL, and stream key. | Confirm eligibility in Live Control Room, allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation, and reconnect OBS to the correct event with the current key. Keep the key private. |
| OBS is live, but there is no sound | Audio meter activity, source routing, and whether the selected media source is playing. | Play a test passage, route the source to the stream, and check the meter before going live. |
| The playlist stops or does not repeat | What the selected source does at track end and after the last playlist item. | Test the complete transition and end-of-list behavior. Choose and verify a playlist method that explicitly advances and repeats in your configuration. |
| Stream health degrades or OBS disconnects | Upload capacity, bitrate, network stability, and whether the computer remains awake and OBS stays running. | Test the connection, lower resolution or bitrate to a sustainable level using YouTube’s codec-specific guidance, and test OBS automatic reconnect before depending on it. |
| YouTube interrupts the broadcast | Copyright matches on music or visuals and whether the rights owner has allowlisted the channel. | Use content you are cleared to stream, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting for licensed material, and resolve the match before restarting. |
| No single replay appears for the full broadcast | Whether the stream ran longer than YouTube’s under-12-hour automatic archive threshold. | Use shorter sessions if an automatic replay is important, or test a separate local recording plan. |
