To use Scan in Arknights: Endfield, select it from Easy Tools, then press the current-tool activation control. If you have used a different utility, hold the Easy Tools control again and select Scan before activating it.
How to select and use Scan
- Open Easy Tools. Hold the control for the Easy Tools selector on your platform.
- Select Scan. Choose it from the tool wheel or selection interface.
- Activate the selected tool. Use the input shown for the current tool. On keyboard and mouse, the cited walkthrough reports that pressing R activates Scan.
Scan is a selection within Easy Tools, not a permanently active mode. After using another utility, reopen Easy Tools and select Scan again. The cited walkthrough’s instructions are available at the Scan guide; exact prompts can vary with platform and control layout, so use the in-game prompt if it differs.

What Scan reveals
Scan highlights nearby information that may be difficult to spot. The cited guide describes ordinary items appearing blue and quest-related items or information appearing yellow. It can also reveal a line toward a Dynamic Erosion core; follow that line to locate the core.

If Scan is missing from Easy Tools
A third-party walkthrough places the unlock during Main Story Chapter 1, Process I, shortly after entering the Originium Byproduct Center. If Scan is not listed, continue the main story and check Easy Tools again. This timing is reported by that walkthrough and is not corroborated by an official Scan-specific guide in the sources cited here.

GRYPHLINE’s official controller support article, dated January 20, 2026, says that controller input at login automatically switches the interface to controller layout. During gameplay, pressing a controller button usually prompts a switch; confirm it to continue with controller controls. Pressing a keyboard key or tapping the touchscreen while in controller layout prompts a switch back.

Layout switching is unavailable in some scenes: operator selection or naming, tutorial sequences, character dialogue or story cutscenes, and certain battle scenes or simulations. The supported controllers listed for PC and mobile are PS5 DualSense and DualSense Edge, PS4 DUALSHOCK 4, Xbox Wireless Controller, and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. USB and Bluetooth are supported on both platforms; GRYPHLINE recommends wired connection on PC for DualSense or DUALSHOCK 4. The article cautions that third-party controllers may have compatibility issues.
A controller is optional: Scan is an in-game tool and does not require a separate device or add-on. If the controls do not respond as expected, first check the active input layout, whether the current scene permits switching, and which Easy Tool is selected.
