Use Scouts to search for objectives, smuggle resources, or clear a Provincial Alert. To find a target, track it, use its clues to choose a likely area on the World Map, then send Scouts there. Deploying more Scouts together expands the search radius; you can replenish them at a Kakurega for a fee or wait for the next season change.
Use Scouts to find an objective
- Open the objective board and review the clues for the target or opportunity you want to locate.
- Track the objective, then use its clues to identify a likely area on the World Map.
- Send Scouts into that area. Ubisoft says that deploying more Scouts at once increases the scouting radius and your odds of finding the objective; Scouts can also help when you have not collected every clue. The wider radius does not make clue-reading unnecessary, and a search in the wrong area may fail. See Ubisoft’s exploration overview.
The official guidance explains the process but does not specify keyboard or controller bindings, which may depend on your setup. Ubisoft’s Guided accessibility option is separate: it provides clearer quest markers rather than changing how Scouts work.

What else Scouts can do
Smuggle resources from enemy sites
Once you build the Stables, you can tag stockpiles in enemy camps or castles. Scouts bring the tagged resources to your Hideout at the end of the season. Those resources can help fund Hideout upgrades, as Xbox Wire’s beginner guide also explains.

If an alarm puts a province on high alert, Scouts can cancel the alert. Ubisoft says this removes military patrols’ aggressive attitude in that province and reduces guard readiness in military zones. Waiting for the season change or switching protagonists are other ways to address an alert. Details are in Ubisoft’s exploration overview.

How to get Scouts back

Improve your Scout capacity and search
Build and upgrade the Study to increase your maximum Scout capacity and refine the search zone used to locate objectives. Ubisoft’s beginner tips also say that building and upgrading the Study adds Scouts to your league. After a Scout reveals a tracked objective—or after you place a map marker manually—toggle Pathfinder while mounted. It draws a white line on the ground toward the objective or marker, and you can turn it off whenever you like. Pathfinder helps with navigation after you know where to go; it does not replace the Scout search.
