Take the Video Camera to the room you want to check, open or place it there, then select its feed on the truck computer. That lets you watch the room remotely for Ghost Orbs and other activity. Recording a video clip is a separate action: aim at a scene and hold the Use button. In the Tutorial, the Ghost Orb objective requires recording the orb, not merely seeing it on the camera screen.
Set up and place the Video Camera
- Pick up the Video Camera. Its display opens when you carry it outside the truck. The equipment reference notes that the screen does not open while you remain in the truck. Phasmophobia community wiki equipment reference.
- Take it to the room you want to inspect. While holding the camera, use its built-in display to look around. To set it down, use the default F placement control. Hold F to bring up a placement preview, then adjust the aim with the mouse before confirming. The feed is available on the truck computer when the camera is opened or placed. If your bindings differ, follow the prompt shown in your game.
- Return to the truck and choose the feed. Select the camera view on the truck computer to monitor the room remotely. Choose a handheld, placed, or tripod setup

Kinetic Games also described higher Video Camera tiers as offering a clearer image with less interference in that 2023 preview. It did not give numerical performance figures, so treat that as a qualitative comparison rather than a current tier benchmark.

Watch for Ghost Orbs—and meet the Tutorial objective
Use the remote feed to scan the room for Ghost Orbs and observe activity without staying inside the room. Seeing an orb on the feed and recording it are not interchangeable for the Tutorial objective: the v0.18.0.0 patch notes say the task now requires recording Ghost Orbs rather than merely getting one inside the camera screen. To capture video media, aim the camera at a scene and hold the Use button. This is different from simply watching the live feed on the truck computer. Kinetic Games’ Chronicle update notes set a limit of five videos per investigation and give examples such as a hunting ghost, Ghost Orbs, thrown objects, moving doors, ghost interactions with objects, and a light source shattering.
