To use your secondary weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds, equip it in the Seikret’s weapon slot, then press Right on the directional pad while riding the Seikret. The indexed controller manual also lists that input for switching weapons on foot. If it doesn’t work, check your control bindings in Start Menu > System > Options.
Equip a weapon in the Seikret’s secondary slot
The Seikret carries your second weapon, so make sure one is assigned to its weapon slot before you head into a hunt. The slot can hold a different weapon type or another weapon of the same type with different properties, according to PlayStation’s starter guide. The available guidance confirms the slot’s purpose but does not specify an equipment-menu path.

Switch weapons with a controller
- Mount your Seikret.
- Press Right on the directional pad to switch to the other weapon. PlayStation’s guide documents this input while riding.
The indexed copy of the official controller manual also lists Right on the directional pad as the default weapon-switch input while on foot. Button assignments can be changed, so if the default input does not work, open Start Menu > System > Options and check the control bindings. Capcom’s support page, updated July 20, 2026, links to the official online manual.
Find the PC keyboard binding in-game
A current default keyboard key for switching weapons is not established in the official material cited here. On keyboard and mouse, check the Seikret or weapon-switch binding in your in-game control settings rather than relying on a key listed for another platform or control layout.

Why carry a secondary weapon?
The system lets you change weapons during a hunt without returning to base. Capcom describes the Seikret as enabling hunters to access and switch to a secondary weapon on the field. That gives you the option to adapt your approach—for example, by carrying a weapon with different range or elemental properties—without treating any particular pairing as required.
