To “transfer” your Fortnite account from Xbox to PC, sign in on PC with the Epic Games account that holds your Xbox progress. You do not move or merge a save file: Epic links platform accounts to one Epic account so supported progress and purchases can be shared. V-Bucks are an exception to the general cross-platform rule. Epic Games Support explains what carries across platforms.
1. Find the Epic account that has your Xbox progress
Before changing any links, identify which Epic Games account is connected to your Xbox profile. Go to Epic’s website and sign in with the Xbox sign-in option, or use the Epic email and password if you know them. Then open Linked accounts and check that Xbox is attached to the account holding the Fortnite progress you want.
The email address on your Xbox account does not have to match the email on your Epic account. If you first played Fortnite on console, an Epic account may have been created automatically. Epic explains how to identify and upgrade a console-created account.
2. Sign in to that same Epic account on PC
- Install and open Fortnite on your PC.
- At sign-in, use the Epic Games account you confirmed is linked to Xbox.
- Launch Fortnite and check that the expected progress appears.
Progress sync depends on using the same Epic Games account across linked platforms. Epic’s cross-platform account guidance describes this arrangement.

3. If Xbox and PC show different progress, choose the account carefully
Stop before unlinking anything. Decide which account’s progress you want to use across platforms, then verify which Epic account holds it. Epic Games Support says, “Epic Games Support cannot merge progress between accounts.” Linking your Xbox account to the Epic account already used on PC will make that account’s progress available on Xbox; it will not move Xbox progress into the PC account.
If you need to keep both histories, they must stay on separate Epic accounts. Epic’s sync troubleshooting article covers cases where progress does not appear as expected.

4. Change an Xbox link only if the account is wrong
Unlinking is not a harmless reset. Epic warns that removing a console link can remove that console’s access to data on the associated Epic account; launching afterward may create a new, empty Epic account. Confirm which account has the progress you want before proceeding. Follow Epic’s unlink instructions only if you are sure the link needs to change.
To link a different console account, Epic’s guidance is to sign in to the Epic account currently associated with the console, open Linked accounts, and follow the unlinking and relinking steps. If the platform account was previously linked elsewhere, you may need to remove a linking restriction first. Epic says that restriction can be removed once every 365 days. - Change the console account linked to your Epic account.
- Link a different platform account to your Epic account.
- Unlink a console account from an Epic account.
5. Check purchases and V-Bucks separately
Epic says progress and purchased content are accessible across linked platforms, with V-Bucks as an exception to the general rule. Do not assume that every V-Bucks balance will carry from Xbox to PC. If Fortnite opens with a new or empty account
- Check that you signed in with the Epic account actually linked to Xbox, not a different account or a newly created one.
- Remember that your Xbox and Epic email addresses can differ, and that console play may have created an Epic account automatically.
- If the Xbox profile is linked to the wrong Epic account, verify the intended account and review Epic’s unlinking and linking steps before changing anything.
- If the correct account still does not show the expected progress after launch, use Epic’s sync troubleshooting guidance.
