For a finished stream, open YouTube Studio > Content > Live, select the stream, and choose Analytics. Read audience, discovery, and viewing measures together: a peak viewer count or click-through rate alone cannot tell you whether a continuous devotional stream is working.
Monitor the stream while it is live
Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room during the broadcast. It is the operational view for checking whether the outgoing stream has a health issue and watching real-time measures such as concurrent viewers, duration, likes, chat rate, views, and average view duration. Available live metrics can depend in part on how the stream is produced. See YouTube’s live stream metrics guidance.
Use this screen to respond to problems and observe what is happening now, not as the final dataset for comparing one day’s devotional programming with another. Live Control Room figures can differ from Analytics: Analytics is based on the video ID and its data is processed and despammed.
Review a finished bhajan stream
- In YouTube Studio, open Content, then select Live.
- Choose the stream you want to review and open Analytics.
- Start with Engagement for live-stream information such as concurrent viewers and chat messages. YouTube says metrics become available within minutes after a stream ends, though processing and report availability can vary.
- For a broader live-metrics view, consult YouTube’s live stream data guidance, which documents average and peak concurrent viewers, total watch time, duration, views, and average view duration.
YouTube Studio’s redesigned Analytics experience has been gradually rolling out since July 2026, so labels or menu appearance may differ between accounts. If a report is missing or looks different, use the current Analytics navigation and definitions shown in your own Studio account. YouTube’s Analytics overview explains the experience and notes that some data can be limited.

Choose metrics that answer a specific question

YouTube frames content performance as a viewer journey of appeal, engagement, and satisfaction: whether people choose the video, keep watching, and find it satisfying. Its guidance notes that different formats can support different channel goals, from meaningful community to broader reach. A devotional channel should therefore interpret discovery and viewing measures in context rather than treating CTR as a verdict. Use discovery reports to assess packaging
In Content analytics, filter for Live and inspect impressions, impressions CTR, views, and average view duration. The combination matters: a thumbnail may earn clicks but fail to lead to sustained listening, while a lower CTR can occur alongside a meaningful audience if the stream reaches a smaller or differently targeted group.

- Compare CTR with the number of impressions; a rate without its exposure context is incomplete.
- Check the viewing outcome after a click, especially average view duration and watch time.
- Remember that impressions exclude thumbnail appearances on external sites and apps, so they do not account for every way viewers might discover the stream.
Beginning August 24, 2026, YouTube says views are counted when a video starts to play across formats, including live streams. The update does not change YPP earnings or eligibility, which continue to use their specified engaged or qualified measures. When a comparison crosses that date, check the current Studio definitions and avoid treating the view count as if its counting method were unchanged. See YouTube’s content performance guidance.
Use audience reports to plan timing and presentation
Open the channel’s Audience analytics for reports such as When your viewers are on YouTube, device type, watch time from subscribers, and top geographies, when those reports are available. These can help you decide when to feature a particular bhajan block, whether stream presentation should account for mobile viewing, or which audience context to consider when planning. They are clues from your channel’s audience, not instructions or guaranteed outcomes.

The “When your viewers are on YouTube” report covers the last 28 days. Monthly audience also looks back over the previous 28 days from each day, so these are rolling windows rather than fixed calendar-month totals. Consider that when comparing schedules or date ranges. Some reports may be limited. See YouTube’s audience analytics guidance.
Compare like with like, then test one change
- Choose comparable streams or date windows—for example, similar weekdays, similar devotional programming blocks, and equivalent periods of the day.
- Compare average and peak concurrent viewers, watch time, retention or average view duration, traffic sources, and packaging measures together.
- Use Advanced Mode when you need specific data, side-by-side comparisons, or an export.
- Change one element for the next comparable period—such as the schedule, title and thumbnail pattern, or the placement of a programming block—so you can interpret what changed.
This is a practical way to make channel-level decisions, not a promise that a particular edit will affect YouTube recommendations. YouTube does not establish a universal “good” CTR, concurrent-viewer count, or performance threshold for a 24/7 bhajan stream in the cited guidance. Account for report differences and special stream formats
- Live versus processed data: Live Control Room supports immediate monitoring; Studio Analytics is better suited to reviewing processed results. Their numbers can differ because Analytics is video-ID-based, processed, and despammed.
- Limited reports: Some metrics or audience reports may not be available for every stream or account. Use the definitions and reports currently visible in Studio rather than filling gaps with estimates.
- Horizontal and vertical output: If you simulcast both formats, YouTube documents combined metrics for dual horizontal/vertical streams and a separate vertical-stream report after 24 hours.
- Revenue or interaction questions: The Live-only filter does not expose every revenue and interaction report. Use the appropriate Analytics report or filter for the question rather than assuming a missing measure is zero.
