To move faster in Fallout: New Vegas, switch from walking to running: press Caps Lock on PC to toggle Always Run, or click the right stick on console. The game uses a walk/run toggle rather than a separate sprint command.
Switch from walking to running
On PC
Press Caps Lock to toggle Always Run, as listed in the Fallout: New Vegas PC manual. If that key does not work, the binding may have been changed. Open Options → Controls to check or remap it; Bethesda Support’s autorun instructions also point PC players to the Controls menu.

If you want to change movement speed on PC
The built-in toggle is the straightforward way to move faster. A Steam Community discussion describes two optional console commands for broader speed changes, but neither is presented as a walk-only adjustment:

The community post does not establish a universally safe value. It also says a changed base-speed setting may require movement to be recalculated by re-equipping a weapon or toggling sneak mode; this is user-posted guidance, not an official guarantee.

Quick troubleshooting
- If your character still moves slowly, first switch the walk/run toggle to running.
- On PC, verify the Always Run binding in Options → Controls if Caps Lock has no effect.
- Use console commands only if you want a broader speed adjustment and accept that running speed may change too; the base-speed setting can also affect NPCs.
