For a local team, check its in-market streaming service or a TV provider carrying the local channel; for an out-of-market team, MLB.TV is the main option, but it still has blackout restrictions. For national exclusives, use the broadcaster listed for that game. MLB’s ZIP-code checker and game listings are the quickest way to identify the right option.
Why MLB games are blacked out
Blackouts follow media-rights territories, not simply whether a game is being played at home. MLB says a club’s home television territory restrictions apply whether the club is home or away, and whether or not the game is televised in that territory. Separate national exclusivity rules can also make some regular-season, special-event, and postseason games unavailable on MLB.TV. Check both your location and the specific matchup using MLB’s blackout and media-center information.
Restrictions are geography-based, and MLB says it may use physical-location signals such as your IP address. MLB’s published guidance does not establish that VPNs or other location-masking methods are supported or reliably remove a blackout, so use an authorized local service, TV provider, or national partner instead.
Choose the service that matches the game
| Option | Best for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Team in-market streaming service | Watching a participating local team within its home territory | Whether the team offers the service in your location, and its current price and terms. |
| MLB.TV | Watching teams outside your home territory | Local territory restrictions and national exclusivity for the specific game. |
| Cable, satellite, or telecom TV | Watching a game on a local team channel or scheduled national channel | Whether your provider and package carry the channel in your market. |
| National partner app or channel | Watching a game listed as exclusive to a national broadcaster | The matchup’s listed broadcaster and any subscription or access requirements. |
| MLB+ audio or delayed archive | Following a game when live video is unavailable, or watching after it ends | Whether audio or delayed viewing suits you; neither provides live video of a blacked-out game. |
| Indoor HDTV antenna | Receiving a game broadcast over the air by a local affiliate | Whether the game is on a receivable local station and reception is adequate at your home. |
For a local team, check its in-market streaming option
MLB’s March 10, 2026 guide listed in-market streaming for 22 of the league’s 30 clubs. MLB says these services stream local games to subscribers anywhere within the relevant club’s home territory, removing local blackouts there. Availability, service names, distribution, and prices differ by team; a service for one club does not establish that another club has the same terms. See MLB’s guide to MLB.TV and local products for the listed options.
#1 Best Overall
- Watch in-game highlights (No blackout restrictions; no subscription required)
- Listen to Home, Away and Spanish-language (where available) radio broadcasts (MLB Audio subscription required)
- Live controls to pause and rewind live video
- Enhanced Gameday pitch-by-pitch features, including realistic ballpark renderings from all 30 MLB parks
- Breaking news, schedules, interactive rosters and player stats for every team
The 22 clubs in that guide were:
- Arizona Diamondbacks, Athletics, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Guardians
- Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Miami Marlins
- Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Diego Padres
- San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, and Washington Nationals
If your team is not among the participating clubs, check its official viewing information and the local channel lineup from your cable, satellite, or telecom provider. MLB says games for 14 MLB-produced clubs remain available through those providers; the exact channel and distribution depend on the market and should be verified for your game.
For out-of-market games, use MLB.TV—but check the matchup
MLB.TV is principally for out-of-market games, live or on demand, subject to blackout restrictions. MLB’s package page displayed a price of $29.99 per season when checked in 2026; offers and renewal terms can change. The listing also describes MLB Network 24/7 in the U.S., live Minor League games, MLB Big Inning, and live audio. MLB says MLB.TV subscriptions are accessible through MLB or ESPN apps, and its 2026 guide says an ESPN Unlimited subscription is not required to maintain MLB.TV. Check the current MLB.TV and MLB+ package page for up-to-date terms.

Before subscribing for a particular game, use MLB’s ZIP-code checker and confirm the matchup’s broadcaster. MLB.TV does not override a local territory blackout or a national exclusivity.
For nationally exclusive games, follow the listed broadcaster
A national exclusive may not be available on MLB.TV or a local team service, even when you are outside the teams’ home territories. MLB’s 2026 guides name TBS, Apple TV, FOX, ESPN, NBC, and Peacock among the national broadcast platforms. The schedule and rights are season-specific: check MLB’s 2026 team watch guide and its 2026 national-games schedule guidance, then confirm the broadcaster for the exact game on MLB.com/Watch. Do not assume that a local subscription includes a nationally exclusive matchup.

When TV or an antenna can work
A cable, satellite, or telecom subscription can show the game only if its lineup carries the channel airing that matchup in your market. An antenna can help only when the game is on a local over-the-air affiliate that you can receive. Check the game listing and station before relying on either option. Neither changes a streaming blackout or provides access to a game carried exclusively by a service you do not have.

MLB’s package page displayed MLB+ at $59.99 per year when checked in 2026. It includes live audio for all 30 clubs without blackouts, along with selected video and other MLB content; the package and price may change. MLB’s blackout notice says on-demand game archives become available 90 minutes after a game ends. These are alternatives to live video, not ways to watch a blacked-out game live. See MLB’s blackout notice for archive and audio details.

- If it is a local game, check the team’s official in-market streaming service or a TV provider that carries the local channel.
- If it is out of market, check MLB.TV’s listing and blackout terms for the matchup before subscribing.
- If MLB’s tool appears to assign the wrong territory to your location, contact MLB customer service through the media center to request a territory review.
