There is no guaranteed multiplier or team formula for winning City Racers. Your best approach is to coordinate with teammates, collect Flags before spending them, and choose Race Dice multipliers based on your Flag supply, race position, and time remaining. Check the live event screen for the current format, costs, rewards, and scoring rules.
How City Racers works
Scopely’s June 2024 launch announcement introduced Tycoon Racers as a team competition: teams of four raced through a three-race championship, collected Flags, rolled Race Dice, earned lap rewards, and received medals after each race. In that launch format, the team with the most medals won the grand prize.
The format described in Scopely’s January 22, 2026 Racers overview includes both team and solo play. Team mode pits teams against other teams; solo mode places a player in a lobby with three other solo players. Rewards differ by mode and are previewed during mode selection. Because event settings can change, use the active in-game screen—not an older guide—as the authority for the edition you are playing.
Choose a mode and prepare your team
Before committing, compare the reward preview and current mode rules. Team mode is a better fit if you can coordinate with other players; solo mode removes the need to organize a shared team, but it still involves competition against other players. The official overview does not establish that either mode is universally easier or more rewarding.

If the event has a preparation or team-up period, use it to check the timer, gather available Flags, and agree with teammates on participation expectations. The team format makes communication useful, but no particular team composition or schedule guarantees a win.
Collect Flags before spending them
Flags are used for Race Dice rolls. Scopely lists these possible sources:

- Claiming Tycoon Club gifts, where available.
Board-tile Flag collection is affected by your normal dice-roll multiplier. A higher multiplier can use more regular dice while collecting event currency, so weigh the potential Flag gain against your dice budget. Available sources and event settings may vary; check the active game for what is currently offered.
Choose Race Dice multipliers with your budget in mind
According to Scopely’s Racers overview, track distance depends on the total value rolled on the Race Dice, the selected multiplier, and whether the roll contains doubles or triples. Matching two or more dice earns bonus points, and a multiplier increases the impact of the roll. A higher multiplier does not guarantee a matching roll.

- Set a Flag budget. Decide how many Flags you can spend before the race ends, rather than choosing a multiplier in isolation.
- Check the race context. Consider your team’s standing, time remaining, and the distance a roll could add toward the next objective.
- Choose a multiplier you can sustain. Increase it only when the possible gain is worth the Flags spent; save resources when a large push is not necessary or the budget is running low.
- Coordinate major pushes. In team mode, communicate when you plan to spend so teammates can align their effort with the race and shared objective.
This is a decision framework based on the published mechanics, not a tested optimal strategy. Game8’s City Racers guide, last updated August 15, 2024, suggested a 10x–20x multiplier for players low on dice. Treat that as dated advice, not a current rule: event costs and balance can change, and no reliable win-rate statistic establishes that a specific multiplier improves your odds by a particular amount.
Use lap rewards to support your next objective
Scopely says completing laps can award Rolls, Flags, Sticker Packs, or a Booster. Examples in its overview include Team Spring, Lucky Rocket, and Overload. It also says unclaimed lap rewards may carry into the next round, but all rewards must be claimed before the Racers event ends. Check the reward choices and claim deadline in the live event.

When choosing a reward, compare its immediate value with what you need next: more Flags for race attempts, Rolls, or a non-currency item that better supports your account. Game8’s 2024 guide often favored dice rolls and noted Flags as useful when more attempts were needed, but that is historical editorial advice rather than a universal optimum. The current in-game reward list takes precedence.

Scopely’s January 2026 overview says medals are awarded according to race placement and that medals are doubled in the final race. Its overview says championships usually include three races, but the exact schedule and scoring can change. Check the active event’s medal table and standings before deciding whether to conserve Flags or make a larger push. The final race can carry extra weight, but that does not make a comeback or victory certain.

What older City Racers guides can—and cannot—tell you
Guides published for earlier editions can explain the general event loop, but their reward inventories, recommendations, schedules, and costs may no longer match the event currently running. For example, Pocket Tactics’ City Racers guide and Game8’s 2024 guide are historical references. For current costs, timer, reward choices, mode comparison, and scoring, rely on the game’s active event screen.
