A January 2025 Xbox announcement described a play day as playing any eligible Game Pass catalog game for at least 15 minutes, but that threshold and the points attached to it are dated offer details, not a permanent promise for every account.
Xbox does not publish one universal reset hour or timezone for this streak. Use the countdown, dates, and progress on your own Rewards quest card. Do not confuse this Game Pass streak with the separate Microsoft Rewards daily-set streak, which has different activity and support guidance.

What an Xbox weekly streak actually is
The weekly streak is a Game Pass quest inside Xbox Rewards. Its core condition is simple: complete qualifying play on at least five days in the week represented by the live quest. Xbox’s current Earn Rewards with Xbox page says Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members can unlock exclusive quests, including weekly streaks and four-game and eight-game monthly packs.
The page is the best reference for the plan names and offers currently attached to your account. Eligibility, quest wording, and point amounts can differ by market and can change over time, so membership alone should not be treated as a guarantee that every account has the same card.

Xbox’s January 6, 2025 Xbox Wire announcement summarized the weekly rule in Spanish as: “Juega al menos cinco días a la semana para completar tu racha.” In English, that means playing at least five days a week to complete your streak. The statement describes the 2025 quest design; the card displayed in your account controls what is live now.
What counts as a play day?
The published 15-minute rule
In the January 2025 announcement, Xbox said eligible Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members could earn 10 points for each day they played any game in the Game Pass catalog for at least 15 minutes. That is the clearest published description of a qualifying daily play action.
Because the announcement is dated and explicitly warns that Rewards offers vary by region and change over time, treat “15 minutes” and “10 points” as the 2025 offer described by Xbox, not as an immutable rule. If the current quest card shows a different duration, game category, or reward, follow that card.
Recommended Free Tools
The announcement does not establish whether several shorter sessions can be combined, whether a particular title is eligible today, or how quickly every device reports progress. Do not assume that a game starting, a short launch, or a single achievement is enough. Keep the quest open, meet the duration or activity written on it, and verify that the day appears before relying on it for a five-day streak.

One day is not one game
The weekly requirement is measured in days, not in the number of games launched. Playing multiple qualifying titles on the same calendar day does not turn that date into several streak days. Conversely, the January announcement’s daily example did not require five different games for the weekly streak.
Monthly packs use a different counting method. Xbox described a four-game pack and an eight-game pack based on distinct Game Pass games played for at least 15 minutes each; the four games also count toward the eight-game pack. Those packs can appear beside the weekly streak, but completing a monthly pack is not a substitute for playing on five separate days.
Device and launcher caveats from the 2025 announcement
At the time of the January 2025 update, Xbox said some PC games that required third-party launchers or were played through Battle.net were excluded from quests. That limitation is tied to the announcement’s date and does not prove that every current PC title has the same treatment. If a PC session is not registering, check the current quest’s eligible-game wording rather than assuming that every Game Pass listing qualifies.

The same Xbox announcement described multipliers for maintaining the weekly streak across successive weeks. These are historical published rules and may not match the multiplier, base reward, or even the existence of a multiplier on your current card.

| Consecutive streak period | Multiplier described by Xbox in January 2025 |
|---|---|
| Two weeks | 2× |
| Three weeks | 3× |
| More than four weeks | 4× |
The wording “more than four weeks” is not the same as saying that every account receives 4× forever after a fourth completed week. It describes the offer Xbox published in 2025. Your Rewards card should be treated as authoritative for the multiplier attached to the next completion.
What rewards and bonuses have been documented?
The point figures below come from the January 2025 announcement and should be read with its regional and change-over-time warning.
| Offer | Published detail | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Daily Game Pass play | 10 points | At least 15 minutes in a Game Pass catalog game, as described for eligible Ultimate and PC Game Pass members in January 2025 |
| Weekly PC bonus | 150 points | Described as a launch-time bonus for Rewards members aged 18 or older |
| Weekly console bonus | 150 points | Described as a launch-time bonus in the January 2025 announcement |
These numbers are not a current universal price list. An account can show a different amount, a different eligibility condition, or no corresponding bonus. Check the live quest list before estimating how many points a streak will produce.
Microsoft says Rewards points can be redeemed for Xbox gift cards. A gift card is a possible use of points after they are earned; buying or redeeming one is not required to start, continue, or protect a streak. Redemption choices and availability depend on the market shown in your Rewards account.

When does an Xbox weekly streak reset?
There is no official universal reset hour, timezone, or local week boundary published for the Game Pass weekly streak in the available Xbox pages. Do not rely on claims that every streak resets at midnight in a particular US timezone or at a fixed hour worldwide.
Instead, open the Xbox Rewards hub or Xbox app and read the active quest card. Its dates, countdown, completion state, and remaining-day display are the practical authority for that account. If the card says the week is still active, complete the displayed requirement before its countdown expires; if it has rolled over, work from the new card rather than an assumed calendar boundary.
Microsoft Rewards support discusses timezone settings when explaining the separate daily-set streak. That guidance should not be converted into a reset rule for the Game Pass weekly streak. The two features can appear in the same Rewards ecosystem while using different activity definitions and timing logic.

These are the two streaks most often mixed together. Their similarities end at the word “streak.”

| Feature | Game Pass weekly streak | Microsoft Rewards daily-set streak |
|---|---|---|
| Activity | Play on at least five days under the live Game Pass quest requirements | Complete the Microsoft Rewards daily set |
| Time unit | A week shown on the Game Pass quest card | Daily-set completion days |
| Published support context | Xbox’s Game Pass quest pages and the live account card | Microsoft Rewards support, including timezone-related daily-set troubleshooting |
| Reset information | No universal hour or timezone is published | Support guidance concerns the daily set, not the Game Pass quest |
Completing a daily set does not count as a Game Pass play day unless the Game Pass quest itself records the required play. Likewise, playing a Game Pass title does not complete a daily set.
How to track a streak without guessing the clock
- Open Rewards on the device you use for Xbox play. Go to the Rewards hub or Xbox app and locate the active Game Pass quest. On PC, console, handheld, or another supported device, use the account that owns the quest.
- Read the card’s current condition. Confirm the required game type, duration, remaining days, point value, and countdown. The card may differ from the January 2025 15-minute example.
- Play an eligible title for the displayed requirement. If the card uses the 15-minute rule, play a qualifying Game Pass catalog game for at least 15 minutes. Avoid assuming that excluded launchers or titles count simply because they appear in a library.
- Allow the activity to synchronize. Return to the quest card and check for the day or progress mark. Tracking may not appear instantly on every device.
- Repeat on five separate days shown by the card. Plan around the card’s countdown, not an assumed midnight or local-week rule. Extra play on one date cannot replace a missing date.
- Capture the card if a day fails to register. A screenshot of the requirement, countdown, and progress gives Microsoft Rewards support the account-specific details needed to investigate.
Why a streak may appear to reset or miss a day
The week or offer changed
A countdown reaching zero can move the account to a new quest period. Since Xbox does not publish one global boundary, the transition shown in your card is more reliable than a community timetable.
The wrong streak was checked
A daily-set streak can reset after a missed daily set, an account change, or a timezone or VPN issue described by Microsoft Support. Those explanations belong to the daily set and do not prove that the Game Pass weekly streak uses the same rules.
The account or profile was different
Verify that the game session and Rewards hub use the same Microsoft account and that the quest is available on that account. Switching profiles can make a completed session look absent from the profile holding the streak.
The game or launcher did not satisfy the live requirement
Check the quest’s eligible-game language. The January 2025 announcement specifically noted exclusions for some PC games requiring third-party launchers or using Battle.net; current exclusions may differ.
Progress has not synchronized yet
Refresh the Rewards view, allow time for tracking, and check again before concluding that the day is lost. If the card still does not reflect qualifying play, contact Microsoft Rewards support with the quest details and account information requested by support.
Quick Recap
What you can safely conclude about your next streak
- You need five qualifying play days in the week represented on the active Game Pass quest.
- The 15-minute, 10-point example comes from Xbox’s January 2025 announcement and can change by account or region.
- Premium and Ultimate are the current plan names Xbox associates with exclusive weekly-streak quests on its Rewards page.
- No published universal reset hour or timezone exists for this Game Pass streak.
- The live quest card, not a daily-set streak, community reports, or an assumed midnight boundary, is the correct timing reference.
