It is a credible choice for competitive PC players who can sustain very high frame rates, but it is not automatically the best monitor for every esports player. Its 1080p resolution, entry-level HDR, DisplayPort-and-DSC requirement for 360Hz, and limited advantage over a good 240Hz display are the key buying considerations.
What is the HP OMEN 25?
The HP OMEN 25—listed in the United States as the OMEN 24.5-inch FHD 360Hz Gaming Monitor, product number BG1M4AA—is a flat 24.5-inch IPS monitor designed primarily for competitive PC gaming.

Its core specifications are a native 1920×1080 resolution, 360Hz maximum refresh rate, and HP-rated 1ms gray-to-gray response time with overdrive. HP also lists NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, AMD FreeSync Premium, factory calibration, 400-nit typical brightness, VESA DisplayHDR 400, USB connectivity, and a fully adjustable stand.
Do not confuse it with the older OMEN X 25 family. The OMEN 25 is a separate, newer product.

HP positions the monitor as the official display of League of Legends Esports and the VALORANT Champions Tour. That is meaningful tournament and sponsorship context, but it is not proof that every professional player uses it at home, prefers its image tuning, or considers it objectively faster than every competing monitor. HP’s October 2025 announcement should be understood as an official-equipment relationship rather than a universal professional endorsement.

Why 360Hz matters in League of Legends and VALORANT
A 360Hz monitor refreshes the image approximately every 2.78 milliseconds. For comparison, 240Hz refreshes every 4.17ms and 144Hz every 6.94ms.

| Refresh rate | Approximate refresh interval |
|---|---|
| 144Hz | 6.94ms |
| 240Hz | 4.17ms |
| 360Hz | 2.78ms |
The theoretical interval improvement from 240Hz to 360Hz is about 1.39ms. That does not mean your complete system latency falls by exactly 1.39ms. Input devices, CPU performance, GPU rendering, frame pacing, game settings, drivers, and network conditions all affect end-to-end responsiveness.
In VALORANT, the benefit is most relevant to players who already maintain very high frame rates and care about smooth aim tracking, rapid visual updates, and consistent latency. In League of Legends, 360Hz can make camera movement, scrolling, and rapid on-screen changes feel exceptionally fluid, although the advantage is less transformative than the jump from 60Hz to 144Hz.

- AMD FreeSync Technology for Tear-Free Gaming: Say goodbye to screen tearing and stuttering with AMD FreeSync, which synchronizes the monitor's refresh rate with your GPU, ensuring smooth and fluid visuals for a seamless gaming experience.
- IPS Technology for Vibrant Colors and Wide Viewing Angles: Equipped with IPS technology, the OMEN 27q G2 offers rich, accurate colors and consistent brightness from any angle, providing an exceptional viewing experience for both gaming and professional content creation.
- Eye Comfort with Low Blue Light & Flicker-Free Technology: Designed with Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technology, this monitor reduces eye strain during long gaming or work sessions, allowing you to play or work comfortably for hours without discomfort.
A monitor cannot create frames your computer does not render. If a system produces 180–240fps, it will not receive the full practical benefit of a consistently saturated 360Hz display. A stable 240fps experience can be preferable to an inconsistent attempt at 360fps.
The most important setup limitation: 360Hz requires DisplayPort and DSC
According to HP’s published support specifications, the OMEN 25 supports:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- 1920×1080 at 360Hz: DisplayPort only, with DSC enabled.
- 1920×1080 at 240Hz: DisplayPort only.
- 1920×1080 at 235Hz: HDMI only.
- 3840×2160 at 60Hz: HDMI console input only.
For PC gaming, use the included DisplayPort cable and connect directly to a graphics card or laptop output capable of DisplayPort 1.4. Do not assume either HDMI 2.0 input can deliver the advertised 360Hz PC mode.
How to enable 360Hz
- Connect the PC to the monitor through DisplayPort.
- Open Settings → System → Display → Advanced display in Windows.
- Select the OMEN 25 and choose 360Hz if it is available.
- In the GPU control panel, confirm 1920×1080, 360Hz, RGB output where available, and full dynamic range where available.
- Enable G-SYNC Compatible or FreeSync Premium if your system supports it.
- Set an in-game frame-rate cap based on your preferred balance of latency, consistency, and power consumption.
If 360Hz does not appear, check the DisplayPort cable, selected monitor input, DSC setting, graphics driver, GPU output, and any dock, adapter, or lower-bandwidth connection in the signal path. Use another DisplayPort output on the graphics card if necessary.
What “1ms response time” means
HP rates the OMEN 25 at 1ms GtG with overdrive. That figure describes a pixel-transition specification; it is not a claim that every transition remains at 1ms under every setting, nor is it a measurement of total input latency.
Rank #3
- QHD RESOLUTION - Get lost in the captivating definition and sharp details of 3.7 million pixels; 2560 x 1440 Quad HD resolution transforms all your content for a remarkable entertainment experience on this 27" diagonal
- QD-OLED PANEL TECHNOLOGY - Experience visuals like never before with an outstanding contrast ratio and a rapid 0.03ms response time, ensuring vivid colors and minimal blur
- NVIDIA G-SYNC TECHNOLOGY - Delivers gameplay that’s sharp, fluid, and stutter-free with minimal input lag
- PLENTY OF PORTS - Easily connect to your gaming and work PCs, console, and headset with two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, and one 3.5 mm headphone jack
- ALL YOUR FUN, CUSTOM - Make your desk just how you like it and maintain comfort with a fully adjustable stand, including height, tilt, pivot and swivel capabilities
Overdrive can accelerate transitions, but an aggressive mode may introduce overshoot, inverse ghosting, or bright coronas around moving objects. Use the strongest setting that looks clean rather than assuming the highest setting is best.

A definitive performance review would need independent motion-sweep measurements across the available overdrive modes, along with input-lag testing. The manufacturer’s 1ms figure alone cannot establish that the OMEN 25 has the lowest latency or best motion clarity among all 360Hz, 500Hz, TN, IPS, or OLED displays.
Image quality: capable IPS, but still a 1080p esports monitor
The IPS panel makes the OMEN 25 more versatile than a stripped-down competitive display. IPS typically provides wider viewing angles than conventional TN panels, and HP claims factory calibration, 99.5% sRGB coverage, and 93% Display P3 coverage.
At 24.5 inches, 1080p is approximately 90 pixels per inch. That is a practical density for competitive gaming at a normal desk distance, but it is visibly less sharp than 1440p at the same size. The lower resolution is also an advantage: it is easier for a capable gaming PC to drive at very high frame rates.
HDR support is present through VESA DisplayHDR 400, but expectations should remain modest. The 400-nit typical brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio do not provide the deep blacks or high-impact highlights of an OLED or a local-dimming LCD. HDR is a useful feature, not the main reason to buy this monitor.

Competitive-gaming strengths
- 24.5-inch format: A familiar size for esports setups, allowing players to keep the entire image within a compact field of view.
- 1080p resolution: Reduces GPU demand and makes very high frame rates more achievable.
- 360Hz refresh: Offers a shorter refresh interval than 240Hz for players who can sustain the required performance.
- Adaptive sync: G-SYNC compatibility and FreeSync Premium can help reduce tearing when frame rates fluctuate.
- IPS viewing angles: More flexible than older TN designs for shared setups or off-center viewing.
- Adjustable stand: Height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments make it easier to match a competitive desk position.
- USB hub and audio output: Useful for peripherals and headset connections, although the monitor has no listed built-in speakers.
Ergonomics and physical design
The stand provides 100mm of height adjustment, tilt from –5° to +20°, ±45° swivel, and ±90° pivot. The monitor also supports 100×100mm VESA mounting, integrated cable management, a detachable or repositionable headset hook, and three-sided micro-edge bezels.
Customizable ARGB lighting can be controlled through OMEN Gaming Hub and Windows Dynamic Lighting. The lighting is decorative rather than performance-critical, but the stand and mounting flexibility are practical advantages for a tournament-style setup or a desk with a portrait side display.

Compared with a 240Hz monitor
A good 240Hz display may offer better value if your computer rarely exceeds 240fps. The OMEN 25 reduces the refresh interval, but the difference from 240Hz is much smaller than the improvement from 60Hz to 144Hz. Choose 360Hz when your games, hardware, and priorities genuinely support it—not simply because the number is higher.
Compared with a 500Hz monitor
A 500Hz display is aimed at an even narrower group of competitive players. It may suit buyers who prioritize the highest possible refresh rate over resolution, image quality, and value. The OMEN 25 remains the more balanced choice if 360Hz is sufficient and IPS features, ergonomics, or a lower system burden matter more.
Compared with 1440p 240Hz
A 1440p 240Hz monitor is generally the stronger all-purpose option for someone who plays competitive games but also wants sharper text, more desktop space, and better image quality in modern games. The OMEN 25 is preferable when sustaining extremely high frame rates is the overriding goal.

HP’s monitor range includes alternatives such as the OMEN 27q G2, which targets sharper QHD gaming and productivity, and the OMEN OLED 27qs, which targets premium contrast and a higher-refresh OLED experience. Confirm current specifications and pricing on HP’s regional store.
Compared with OLED
OLED monitors provide superior contrast, true blacks, and extremely fast response characteristics, but they can cost more and involve different brightness behavior and burn-in considerations. The OMEN 25 is the simpler choice for a focused 1080p esports setup; OLED is the more compelling choice for premium image quality.
Compared with a console display
The OMEN 25 can accept console signals and supports 4K downscaling according to HP’s specifications, but it is fundamentally a 1080p high-refresh PC monitor. A display with HDMI 2.1 is usually a better fit for buyers prioritizing 4K, high-refresh console gaming.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Who should buy the HP OMEN 25?
Buy it if
- You mainly play VALORANT, League of Legends, Counter-Strike-style shooters, or other high-FPS competitive games.
- Your PC can sustain frame rates near 360fps in the games you actually play.
- You prefer a compact 24.5-inch 1080p esports format.
- You want an adjustable stand, USB hub, adaptive sync, and IPS viewing angles.
- You value factory calibration and broad stated color coverage but do not need premium HDR.
- You want a monitor associated with HP’s Riot esports equipment relationship.
Skip it or consider another monitor if
- You want sharper 1440p or 4K image quality.
- You play cinematic single-player games more often than competitive esports.
- Your system cannot consistently exceed 240fps.
- You want OLED contrast, true blacks, or stronger HDR.
- You need HDMI 2.1 for modern console use.
- You want the absolute highest refresh rate available.
- You need built-in speakers.
Buying verdict
For serious VALORANT players, the OMEN 25 is a sensible 360Hz option if the PC can sustain the necessary frame rate and the player is comfortable staying at 1080p. League of Legends players can also benefit from its smoothness, although the value depends more on personal sensitivity to motion and the rest of the system.
For mixed PC gaming, a 1440p 240Hz display is likely the better long-term compromise. For console-first gaming, a 4K HDMI 2.1 monitor is a better match. For premium image quality, OLED is more compelling. For an existing 240Hz owner, upgrading makes the most sense only when competitive performance, sustained frame rates, and the smaller 240Hz-to-360Hz improvement justify the cost.
The OMEN 25’s professional positioning is credible as tournament context, and its specification is appropriate for high-level esports. It is not proof of universal competitive superiority. Its strongest case is focused and practical: a well-equipped 24.5-inch 1080p IPS monitor for players who can actually use 360Hz.
