No. Hulu cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s compatibility information says the Nintendo Switch version of Hulu “cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2.” That refers to the old Switch application: it does not mean Hulu has disappeared from every other device, and it does not invalidate a Hulu subscription.

There is also a separate, later development to keep straight: Nintendo says Hulu was removed from the original Nintendo Switch eShop on November 6, 2025, and that Hulu service on the original Switch was discontinued on February 5, 2026. In other words, Hulu did not carry over to Switch 2, and the legacy Switch version has since ended as well.

Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility listing, identified as current on June 5, 2025, lists Hulu among the non-game applications that cannot be used on the new console. The limitation is software compatibility, not a problem with your Nintendo Account, Hulu login, internet connection, or subscription.

Installing the old Switch version from a transfer, redownloading it, or moving it to a microSD Express card will not make it run on Switch 2. The console does not provide a supported way to use that legacy Hulu app.
It is important not to overread the headline. The accurate claim is:
- Hulu’s Nintendo Switch app cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2.
- Hulu service availability on other platforms is a separate question.
- Hulu on the original Nintendo Switch ended on February 5, 2026.
Neither Nintendo’s compatibility notice nor its later support information establishes that Hulu can never release a native Switch 2 app. It establishes the status of the existing Switch application. Unless Nintendo or Hulu announces a Switch 2 version, however, owners should not expect the old app to work.

Switch 2 supports many Nintendo Switch games, but backward compatibility is not the same as universal compatibility for every Switch application. Nintendo separately identifies software that does not work on Switch 2, and Hulu is in that group.

This is why the result can be confusing after a system transfer. A transferred game may work while a transferred entertainment app does not. The transfer process moves software and data where supported; it does not convert an app into a native Switch 2 application or add features that the developer has not provided.
Other video and media apps affected
Hulu is not the only legacy media app with a Switch 2 compatibility issue. Nintendo’s materials identify several other applications that do not carry over in their existing form:

These examples support a careful conclusion: several older Switch media apps do not have Switch 2-compatible versions. They do not prove that every streaming service is unavailable on the console, nor do they prove that Nintendo will never add media apps in the future.

How to watch Hulu if you own a Switch 2
The practical solution is to watch Hulu on a separate supported playback device rather than trying to run it through the console. Depending on your country, subscription, television, and the service’s current device support, that may be:
- a smart TV with a current Hulu app;
- a Roku player;
- an Apple TV or another supported TV streaming box; or
- another streaming device listed as compatible with Hulu for your market.
Check Hulu’s current device support before buying, because availability can vary by region, model, operating-system version, and subscription arrangement. The Switch 2 itself is not a substitute for that supported streaming device.
A separate Roku option
For a television that lacks a suitable Hulu app, a Roku Streaming Stick 4K is a relevant separate-device solution. Roku describes it as an HDMI television streaming player with Wi-Fi and support for services including Hulu, Netflix, and Disney+. Roku’s support documentation also explains that Hulu users can sign in on a Roku device whether the subscription was purchased directly from Hulu or through Roku.

What about Fire TV?
Amazon’s official Fire TV documentation lists products such as the Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max as current Fire TV streaming devices. They are reasonable alternatives to investigate, but device availability and Hulu support should be confirmed for the exact model and region before purchase. The evidence here confirms the product family, not Hulu compatibility for every Fire TV model.

- Reinstalling Hulu: the old Switch app is not made compatible by a fresh download.
- Updating the Switch 2: a system update cannot guarantee support for an app that lacks a Switch 2-compatible release.
- Transferring the app again: data transfer does not convert legacy Switch software into a native Switch 2 app.
- Changing your Hulu plan: the limitation is platform compatibility, not the type of Hulu subscription.
- Buying a streaming stick as a Switch accessory: a Roku or Fire TV device is for a television and does not enable Hulu inside Switch 2.
If Hulu works on another supported device but not on Switch 2, that is expected behavior under Nintendo’s compatibility information. If Hulu fails on a television or streaming player that is supposed to support it, troubleshoot that device separately by checking its region, app version, account sign-in, network connection, and current Hulu support listing.
Bottom line for Switch 2 owners
Hulu cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2 because the existing Nintendo Switch version is incompatible. The original Switch version is no longer a fallback: Nintendo says Hulu service on that console ended on February 5, 2026. To watch Hulu, use a supported smart TV or separate streaming player, and treat products such as Roku Streaming Stick 4K as independent TV devices—not as adapters that add Hulu to Switch 2.
