To play instruments or custom MIDI songs in Hytale, use the community mod Ymmersive Melodies. The base game’s documented music feature is different: it lets creators configure item assets for playback by a music player block, not equip a handheld instrument or load a custom MIDI file as a player.

- Find the mod. Search for Ymmersive Melodies in CurseForge’s Hytale catalog or use Hytale’s in-game mod browser where available. Hytale Update 6 describes a main-menu browser for discovering, installing, updating, and removing mods. CurseForge also says its Hytale website and application support mod discovery and installation. - Enable it for the world you’ll play. Select the mod for the relevant save or world. Hytale’s modding strategy describes single-player as using a local server, with players selecting mods for a save. Its asset-pack guide says installed packs appear in the New World menu options. - Confirm everyone’s setup in multiplayer. The listing describes real-time group play with multiple instruments. Coordinate on the same modded world and make sure players’ mod and game versions are compatible.
How to craft an instrument
Once you are in a world with the mod enabled, use the work bench and look in its Tools section to craft an instrument, according to the mod listing. The listing does not establish a complete instrument roster or item-by-item recipes, so consult its current page for what is available in your installed version.
How to load and play a MIDI song
Ymmersive Melodies lists MIDI uploads from a URL or a local file. Its listing limits local-file uploads to single-player; do not assume that choosing a MIDI file from your computer works in multiplayer.
