If I Am Your Beast crashes on Steam Deck, try Valve’s general troubleshooting steps: update SteamOS and restart, temporarily disable third-party applications, test a different Proton compatibility tool, and lower graphics settings. These are general Steam Deck suggestions—not a confirmed fix for this game. The available sources do not establish why the game crashes or verify a title-specific workaround.
Why is I Am Your Beast crashing on Steam Deck?
The cause is not established by the available game and Valve support pages. Steam lists I Am Your Beast as a single-player action game from Strange Scaffold, released September 10, 2024, but its listed PC requirements do not identify a Steam Deck crash cause. A crash could also present differently: the game may close back to the Library, freeze, or destabilize the Deck. Note what happens before trying changes so you can describe the symptom accurately.

How to troubleshoot the crash
Try these steps one at a time, launching the game after each change. Valve presents them as general Steam Deck troubleshooting for both LCD and OLED models, not as a tested sequence for I Am Your Beast.

- Install SteamOS updates and restart. Check for system updates in the Deck’s settings, install any available update, then restart the device and try the game again.
- Temporarily disable third-party applications. If you installed extra applications through Desktop Mode, exit or disable them for a test, restart the Deck, and relaunch the game. This helps check whether an additional application is involved; it does not establish that one is causing the crash.
- Try a different Proton compatibility tool. In the game’s Library entry, open Properties, then Compatibility, and enable the option to force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool. Valve recommends trying the latest Proton version. Steam may download the Windows version of Proton if only the Linux version is installed. Test the game after changing the selection; no particular Proton version is confirmed as a fix for this title.
- Reduce graphics settings. Lower the graphics preset or reduce individual settings, then test again. This is a general way to reduce system load, not a verified remedy for a game-specific crash.

- When the crash occurs, such as during launch, while loading, or during play.
- Whether the game closes to the Library, freezes, or leaves the Deck unresponsive.
- Your SteamOS and Proton versions, if applicable.
- Which troubleshooting steps you tried and whether any changed the behavior.
