But “amazing” remains a hopeful prediction, not a settled outcome. Some games have only broad windows, and Nintendo’s own hardware forecast points to a lower sales total in its current fiscal year.
What Nintendo games are coming in 2027?
Nintendo’s May 2026 investor schedule and its September Direct provide different kinds of evidence: the former outlines Nintendo-planned products, while the latter also includes releases from outside publishers. Together they make a promising calendar-year slate, but they are not a single definitive schedule. Dates and titles can change.

Why the lineup makes 2027 look exciting
Several major Nintendo series are represented
The investor schedule points to a varied set of familiar names: Yoshi, Star Fox, Splatoon, Fire Emblem and Pokémon. Their planned appearances across May, June and July, alongside titles with only a 2027 window, give the year the outline of a substantial first-party calendar rather than a single tentpole release.
The Switch 2 pipeline extends beyond Nintendo-planned games
The September Direct adds games from external publishers, including Persona 4 Revival and Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which Nintendo UK lists for April 8, 2027. That breadth matters to the platform’s prospects, but it should not be mistaken for a Nintendo-developed lineup. The Direct also included other preorders and 2026 dates, so its full announcement page is a platform pipeline rather than a list exclusively of 2027 Nintendo games. What Nintendo’s business outlook says—and does not say
Nintendo said Switch 2 had a good start following its June 2025 launch and described a goal of keeping hardware momentum going by delivering software to a wide range of consumers. That is a company aim, not a promise that momentum will accelerate. Nintendo’s May 2026 numbers are forecasts for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, not results for calendar 2027.

Hardware sales forecast is a note of caution
Nintendo forecast 16.50 million Switch 2 hardware units for FY2027, compared with 19.86 million units reported for FY2026. The company attributed the expected year-on-year decline to strong launch-year sales and price revisions, while describing expected second-year adoption as solid. Why “could be amazing” is more accurate than “will be”
The optimistic case rests on a real slate, franchise variety and a wider Switch 2 release pipeline. The uncertainties are just as concrete: several titles have no exact date, the stated windows may change, and Nintendo’s business outlook is a forecast rather than a guarantee. There is also a time-window distinction worth keeping clear. Calendar 2027 runs from January through December; Nintendo’s FY2027 ends March 31, 2027. The company forecast therefore covers only the first quarter of calendar 2027, as well as April 2026 through March 2027, and cannot by itself settle how the whole calendar year will go.
