The modern edition of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is already available. The PlayStation Store lists its PS4 and PS5 release date as March 27, 2025, and Nightdive announced the PC, Mac, and Linux “Definitive Update” for Steam and GOG on October 16, 2025. The newer update adds interface and quality-of-life improvements rather than introducing a newly announced upcoming release.
When did the remaster come out?
For PS4 and PS5, the PlayStation Store lists March 27, 2025 as the release date. On PC, Mac, and Linux, Nightdive’s October 16, 2025 announcement says the Definitive Update was released on Steam and GOG. Nightdive’s game page also lists Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo purchase destinations as available; availability and features can vary by storefront and edition.

The sources describe different editions and updates, so “remaster” is a convenient shorthand, not a claim that every platform received an identical feature set. The detailed change list is for the PC update; the PlayStation product page describes its edition more broadly.
What does the PC Definitive Update add?

The PS5 listing mentions controller support, modernized menus, and quality-of-life improvements, but does not confirm that every PC feature is included on console.
What kind of game is it?
I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is a point-and-click psychological horror adventure based on Harlan Ellison’s short story. Players take the roles of five people tormented by AM, a computer, and face emotionally charged dilemmas across multiple endings. Nightdive says Ellison voiced AM. The official descriptions flag violence, blood and gore, sexual themes, and psychological or adult-oriented subject matter.

Can you buy a physical copy?
Atari lists a PS5 physical edition, but its product page says preorders have ended and the item is sold out there. That listing does not establish whether another retailer currently has stock, so check a seller’s live listing before making a purchase.

Why do listings give different original release dates?
The original game’s year is not consistent across the cited official listings: Atari describes it as a 1995 release, while Steam gives October 31, 1996. Those sources do not resolve the discrepancy, so neither date should be presented as an uncontested answer. For the modern edition, the PlayStation Store’s March 27, 2025 date and Nightdive’s October 16, 2025 PC update announcement are distinct, platform-specific milestones.
