There is no universal iBUYPOWER RGB keyboard shortcut. Identify the model first: current MK9, MK9 Pro, and Chimera KM10 listings use HYTE Nexus, while older bundled keyboards often use model-specific Fn shortcuts.
1. Identify your exact keyboard model
Check the label on the keyboard’s underside for a model such as MK9, MK9 Pro, KM10, KM7, MEK, or a KB-IBP- identifier. Also check the original iBUYPOWER invoice, PC configuration, accessory packaging, and any shortcut legend printed underneath the keyboard.

Windows may help: open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices, or open Device Manager → Keyboards and Human Interface Devices. However, Windows may display only a generic HID name, so the underside label or original order record is more reliable.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2. Change the color with HYTE Nexus
Use this method first for the MK9, MK9 Pro, and Chimera KM10, whose current product listings identify HYTE Nexus and per-key RGB lighting:
#1 Best Overall
- Save previous desk space while keeping the essentials with a compact 98-key iBUYPOWER MK9 mechanical keyboard.
- Freely adjust your keyboard's custom RGB lighting thanks to HYTE Nexus software.
- Experience fast and smooth typing or customize your keyboard with hotswappable linear switches.
- Listen to the best of both sound stages thanks to the included linear switches and gasket-mounted PCB plate.
- Download or open HYTE Nexus from the official iBUYPOWER RGB software page or the software supplied for your keyboard.
- Connect the keyboard directly to a motherboard USB port. Avoid a hub during setup.
- Install Nexus and restart Windows if it requests one.
- Open Nexus and wait for the keyboard to appear.
- Select the keyboard, then open its lighting or RGB controls.
- Choose a static color, breathing, wave, rainbow, or reactive effect, if your model offers those options.
- Adjust brightness and configure individual keys or zones when supported.
- Apply the change and save the profile if Nexus provides that option.
The exact controls can differ by model and software version. Product pages confirm Nexus support for the MK9 Pro, MK9, and KM10; that does not establish support for every iBUYPOWER keyboard.
3. Hardware shortcuts to try
Hardware controls work on some models without installing software. Use the printed underside instructions whenever available.
| Keyboard situation | Shortcut to try | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| MK9 | Fn + Right Arrow |
Documented in an MK9 manual hosted by a third party; model and revision dependent |
| MK9 | Fn + Left Arrow |
Changes lighting flow or mode in the same manual |
| MK9 | Fn + Up/Down |
Raises or lowers brightness in the same manual |
| Older bundled variants | Fn + Insert |
Commonly reported for changing color, but not universal |
| Older bundled variants | Fn + Scroll Lock |
Reported for cycling lighting modes |
| Older bundled variants | Fn + Page Up/Page Down |
Reported for brightness control |
| Older bundled variants | Fn + Print Screen |
Reported for toggling lighting |
The MK9 combinations come from this MK9 manual. The other combinations are community-reported for several older iBUYPOWER variants, including reports on Reddit. Do not assume Fn + Insert works on every iBUYPOWER keyboard, and do not apply the MK9 arrow shortcuts to a KM10 unless its own documentation confirms them.

iBUYPOWER identifies incompatible software, incorrect connections, and conflicts between multiple RGB applications as common causes of lighting-control problems. If the keyboard fails on multiple computers, firmware or hardware failure becomes more likely. See iBUYPOWER’s RGB keyboard troubleshooting guide.
When the keyboard types but the lights are off
Typing and lighting can fail independently. Try the lighting toggle and brightness shortcuts, reconnect the USB cable, remove any hub, restart the RGB software, and test another USB port or computer. If lighting stops after sleep, check whether Windows USB power management or the RGB application is preventing the keyboard from reinitializing.
Only some keys lighting up can indicate an incorrect profile, firmware problem, failed LEDs, or other hardware trouble. A fixed blue, red, or rainbow pattern may instead mean that the keyboard offers preset-only lighting or has no software control.

Why the color resets after restarting
Changing the current lighting state is not the same as saving a persistent profile. A reset can happen because the keyboard has limited onboard memory, Nexus is not starting with Windows, another RGB application is overwriting the profile, or the keyboard returns to its factory lighting after power loss.
Save the profile in Nexus when possible and test it after closing the application and restarting Windows. Persistence is model-dependent; RGB support does not guarantee that every iBUYPOWER keyboard stores custom settings onboard.

Your keyboard, case fans, motherboard headers, light strips, and case controller may use separate systems. Motherboard software can control the PC’s internal lighting without controlling a USB keyboard.

iBUYPOWER’s RGB Hub maps hardware to ecosystems including ASUS Armoury Crate, MSI Center, ASRock Polychrome, Gigabyte Control Center, Corsair iCUE, NZXT CAM, Lian Li L-Connect 3, Thermaltake RGB Plus, and iBUYPOWER or Nexus tools. Synchronization is possible only when the relevant devices and software support one another. SignalRGB and OpenRGB may work with some hardware, but iBUYPOWER does not guarantee compatibility with every RGB product.
Which method should you use?
- MK9, MK9 Pro, or KM10: Start with HYTE Nexus; use hardware shortcuts only when your model’s documentation confirms them.
- Older bundled keyboard: Follow the underside legend, then cautiously try the commonly reported
Fncombinations. - No software detection: Use a direct USB connection, close competing RGB tools, reinstall Nexus, and test another computer.
- Simple color change: Hardware shortcuts are quickest when supported.
- Solid color, per-key lighting, or saved effects: Software is usually more flexible, but available features depend on the exact model.
For the model-specific controls and software options, iBUYPOWER’s general RGB guide is also useful: iBUYPOWER notes that products may offer software control, manual controls, or no user-adjustable RGB control at all.
