Cannot load an IDAPI service library. File: IDDA3532.DLL. Alias: ...
If you see an idda3532.dll missing, not found, or could not be loaded message, the failed file is usually part of an older database application, not Windows itself. The safest repair is to identify the program that installed it, then repair or reinstall that program and its Borland Database Engine components.

Which fix applies to you
Use the first matching description:
- The error appeared after reinstalling, moving, or cleaning up an old application: repair or reinstall that application first.
- The application opens but cannot connect to an Access database: check the BDE Administrator
DLL32setting and database alias. - The program worked until antivirus removed a file: inspect quarantine, but prefer a clean reinstall from trusted application media.
- The file exists but the error continues: check the exact path, 32-bit BDE installation, permissions, and driver configuration.
- The error names another DLL or hardware device: do not change the BDE Access setting. Follow the instructions for that specific component instead.
- The program is very old and fails on Windows 10 or Windows 11: reinstall the vendor’s complete package, try compatibility settings, or contact the vendor about a supported replacement.
Do not start by copying idda3532.dll into C:WindowsSystem32. That is usually the wrong repair.

It is not a normal Windows component. Older third-party programs installed it as part of their own database system. Examples include personnel, construction, laboratory, industrial-control, and other Delphi- or Borland-era applications.
BDE installations commonly place this file in a shared BDE directory, such as:
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesBorlandBDE
or:
C:Program FilesCommon FilesBorland SharedBDE
The exact path depends on the application installer. A legitimate copy may instead be stored in the application’s own directory.

A modern installation of Microsoft Access does not necessarily restore every dependency expected by a BDE application.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the application
This is the most reliable fix because the installer restores the DLL, related BDE files, aliases, registry settings, and application-specific dependencies together.
Before uninstalling
Back up the application’s database files. Look for files in the program’s data folder, a shared company folder, or a location shown in the application’s settings. Do not assume uninstalling the application will preserve those files.
Also save any license details, configuration exports, and vendor installation media you still have.
Repair the program
- Press Windows and type Installed apps.
- Open Installed apps.
- Find the application that displays the
idda3532.dllerror. - Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Some older programs provide their own repair option instead:
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Programs.
- Select Programs and Features.
- Select the affected application.
- Choose Repair or Change.
- Follow the installer prompts.
If no repair option exists, run the original installer again and choose a maintenance, repair, or reinstall option.
Reinstall the program
If repair fails:
- Back up the application’s databases and configuration files.
- Download or obtain the installer from the application’s developer, administrator, or original vendor media.
- Uninstall the affected application from Settings > Apps > Installed apps or Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the trusted installer.
- Install the complete BDE or database component when the installer offers component choices.
- Restart Windows again.
- Launch the application and test the database connection.
If the installer is old, right-click it, select Properties, open Compatibility, and try the compatibility troubleshooter. You can also right-click the installer and select Run as administrator. Use compatibility settings only for the application supplied by its vendor, not for a replacement DLL downloaded from elsewhere.
Fix 2: Check the BDE Access driver configuration
A BDE application can report that it cannot load idda3532.dll even when the file exists. The BDE configuration may point to the wrong driver or to a BDE installation that no longer matches the application.

The utility may be listed as BDE Administrator in the Start menu, Control Panel, or the application’s installation folder.
- Press Windows and search for BDE Administrator.
- Open it. If Windows requests permission, select Yes.
- Select the Configuration tab.
- Expand Drivers.
- Expand Native.
- Select MSACCESS.
- Find the
DLL32property. - Set it to:
IDDA3532.DLL
- Apply or save the configuration.
- Close BDE Administrator.
- Restart the affected application.
The application may need IDDAO32.DLL instead if it was built for Access 95 and Jet 3.0. Do not change the setting blindly when the error names a different driver or when the application documentation specifies another configuration.
Check the alias
The error may include an alias after Alias:. That name identifies the BDE database connection the application attempted to open.

In BDE Administrator:
- Select the Databases tab.
- Find the alias named in the error.
- Select it.
- Check its path and connection properties.
- Confirm that the database folder still exists.
- Correct the path only if you know where the application’s database is stored.
- Save the configuration and test the program.
Do not create a new alias with guessed settings. The application may require particular parameters supplied by its vendor.

Fix 3: Confirm the file is in the expected location
- Read the complete path shown in the error, if one is provided.
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to the application’s BDE directory or the path named in the message.
- Confirm that
IDDA3532.DLLis present with that exact spelling. - Right-click the file, select Properties, and check its location and security permissions.
- Confirm that the application account can read and execute files in that folder.
A file being present somewhere on the computer does not mean BDE can load it. The application may be using a different BDE installation, a different DLL32 value, or a path that no longer exists.
Avoid placing copies in both C:WindowsSystem32 and C:WindowsSysWOW64. Those folders are not a general-purpose repair location for BDE drivers.
Fix 4: Handle 32-bit applications on 64-bit Windows
BDE-era programs are normally 32-bit. A 64-bit Windows installation can often run them, but the application, BDE components, aliases, and driver configuration must be installed consistently.
Check the following:
- Install the vendor’s 32-bit application package, not an unrelated 64-bit database component.
- Open the BDE Administrator installed with that application.
- Confirm that its
MSACCESSdriver points to the correctDLL32file. - Do not mix files from separate BDE installations.
- Do not copy the driver between
System32andSysWOW64. - Run the application from its installed shortcut rather than an old shortcut pointing to a removed folder.
If reinstalling the complete 32-bit application does not work, the program may depend on other legacy components that modern Windows no longer supports cleanly. Ask the vendor whether a current update, supported compatibility mode, or migration path exists.
Fix 5: Check antivirus quarantine
If the program worked previously and the file disappeared suddenly, antivirus quarantine is a possible cause. It is not proof that the file is safe or malicious.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
IDDA3532.DLLor the application’s folder. - Review the detected path and reason.
- Do not restore the file until its origin is confirmed.
- Verify the application and file with the vendor or your organization’s administrator.
- If confirmed legitimate, restore or allow it according to your security policy.
- Prefer reinstalling the complete application from trusted media afterward.
If another security product is installed, open its quarantine or detection history instead. A clean reinstall is safer than restoring an unverified loose DLL.
Fix 6: Do not use regsvr32 for this BDE driver
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. BDE database drivers are normally loaded through the BDE configuration, particularly the DLL32 property.
Running this command is therefore usually irrelevant:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
regsvr32 idda3532.dll
It may produce an error stating that the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. That does not mean the BDE driver needs a different registration command. Repair the BDE installation and configuration instead.
Fix 7: Use Windows repair commands only for wider system problems
IDDA3532.DLL is not a protected Windows system file, so System File Checker is unlikely to restore it. Use Windows repair commands when you also have damaged Windows components, update failures, crashes, or other system-wide symptoms.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the application again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. These commands repair Windows components, not the BDE package that supplied idda3532.dll.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can waste time while the application’s own installation remains damaged. If you want a guided scan to identify Windows component problems rather than manually comparing repair results, Outbyte PC Repair can show what it finds; its repair action is handled by the full version, and reinstalling the affected application remains the definitive fix for this file.

Do not use Device Manager for a BDE database driver. IDDA3532.DLL is not a hardware driver, and Windows Features will not normally install it.

- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers, or install a driver downloaded from the hardware manufacturer.
- Restart Windows.
If Windows Features are specifically named by another error, open Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off, select only the feature documented for that application, and restart when prompted. Do not enable random legacy features to fix an unknown BDE error.
Manually checking dozens of hardware vendors and versions is tedious, especially when the wrong driver can create a second problem. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify outdated drivers, while its driver installation is handled by the full version; it is not a substitute for reinstalling the BDE application when idda3532.dll is the file named in the error.
Why random DLL downloads are a bad fix
Downloading idda3532.dll from a random DLL website can give you:
- The wrong BDE build.
- The wrong 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
- A file that does not match the application’s other BDE components.
- Malware or a modified binary.
- A DLL that exists on disk but is not configured in BDE.
There is no verified current standalone Microsoft package that should be treated as a universal source for this file. Use the original application installer, trusted vendor media, a verified organizational backup, or a vendor-provided update.
Copying the exact file from a verified backup can be appropriate in a controlled deployment, but restore it to the BDE directory expected by that same application and rerun the vendor installer when possible.
When the application is too old
BDE is deprecated legacy technology and is no longer being enhanced. An old program may lack modern compatibility, Unicode support, or current database support.
If reinstalling the application and correcting DLL32 does not resolve the issue:
- Back up the database.
- Check whether the vendor offers an updated release.
- Ask whether the vendor supports Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Test the application in a controlled compatibility environment.
- Consider migrating the data to a supported application or database system.
Do not install old database components broadly across a work computer without checking the application’s requirements and your organization’s security policy.
FAQ
Is idda3532.dll part of Windows?
No. It is a legacy BDE Access driver normally installed with a third-party application.
Which program installed it?
There is no single universal parent program. Older database, personnel, construction, laboratory, and industrial applications may have bundled BDE. The error’s alias, shortcut, executable location, or missing file path can identify the application.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsShould I copy it to System32?
No. BDE expects the driver through its own installation and DLL32 configuration. Copying it to System32 usually does not repair the application.
Is IDDA3532.DLL the same as IDDAO32.DLL?
No. IDDA3532.DLL is associated with Access 97 and Jet 3.5, while IDDAO32.DLL is associated with the older Access 95 and Jet 3.0 generation.
Why does the message say “Cannot load an IDAPI service library”?
BDE cannot load the configured database driver. Common causes are a damaged installation, missing file, wrong DLL32 value, incorrect path, incompatible 32-bit setup, or a missing legacy dependency.
Will installing Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET fix it?
Usually not. Those runtimes are unrelated to this BDE Access driver. Repair the application that installed the file.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Can System File Checker restore it?
Normally no. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while idda3532.dll belongs to a third-party BDE application.
What if the DLL exists but the error remains?
Check the exact path, the BDE Administrator MSACCESS driver, the DLL32 value, the database alias, file permissions, and whether the application is using another BDE installation. If those checks fail, reinstall the complete application.
