igd10iumd32.dll is a genuine Intel user-mode graphics driver component. Its description is “User Mode Driver for Intel(R) Graphics Technology,” and it has appeared in Intel HD Graphics driver packages and Intel Embedded Media and Graphics Driver packages.

The 32 in the filename identifies a 32-bit component. That does not mean your entire Windows installation is 32-bit. A 64-bit Windows computer can run 32-bit applications such as older games, Office programs, and Outlook. Those applications may load the 32-bit part of an Intel graphics driver while 64-bit applications use other driver files.

This file is not:
- A Microsoft Visual C++ runtime
- A DirectX redistributable
- A .NET component
- A normal Windows feature
- A file that should be registered with
regsvr32 - A universal component required by every Intel computer
Newer Intel driver generations may use different filenames and layouts. Older versions of this file have been listed as 32-bit builds such as 10.18.10.4276 and 10.18.10.4252, each around 11.35 MB, but those historical versions are not replacement targets for every computer. The correct driver depends on the Intel GPU, Windows version, computer manufacturer, and application architecture.

A real installation may place the file in a path such as:
C:WindowsSystem32
or within:
C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository
Do not copy it manually from either location. Driver installation also depends on its INF file, catalog, related components, and hardware configuration.

A crash report naming igd10iumd32.dll does not prove that the DLL itself is defective. The fault may be an Intel driver bug, an application compatibility problem, corrupted driver files, unstable hardware, or memory and storage problems.
Fix 1: Install the manufacturer’s Intel graphics driver
This is the safest and most likely solution, particularly on laptops and branded desktop computers.
- Identify the computer manufacturer and model.
- Open the manufacturer’s support website in your browser.
- Search for the exact model or serial number.
- Open the driver or downloads section.
- Select your installed Windows version.
- Download the Intel graphics or display driver.
- Close games and graphics applications.
- Run the downloaded installer.
- Accept the default installation choices unless the manufacturer gives different instructions.
- Restart Windows.
If the manufacturer provides several graphics packages, choose the Intel display driver that matches your hardware. A laptop may also have a separate NVIDIA or AMD driver, but that does not replace the Intel integrated graphics driver.
After restarting, open the application that produced the error. If it starts normally and the error does not return, the driver package was the problem.
If the manufacturer provides no suitable package, identify the Intel processor or graphics device in Device Manager and use the matching package from Intel’s official Download Center or Intel Driver & Support Assistant. Intel warns that generic packages may overwrite manufacturer customizations, so treat the OEM package as the preferred choice.

Fix 2: Perform a clean Intel graphics installation
Use a clean installation when a normal driver update does not help, when the error returns after every restart, or when the driver was interrupted or replaced by another package.
Before starting, download the correct OEM driver and save it locally. If Windows repeatedly reinstalls the problematic driver, temporarily disconnect from the internet during the removal and installation.
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the Intel graphics device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Select Attempt to remove the driver for this device or Delete the driver software for this device if that option appears.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart the computer.
- If Windows displays a basic or low-resolution screen, this is expected temporarily.
- Run the OEM or matching Intel graphics installer you downloaded.
- Restart again.
- Reconnect to the internet if you disconnected it.
Windows may temporarily use Microsoft Basic Display Adapter after the Intel driver is removed. That is a fallback display driver, not a permanent repair. Install the correct Intel package before testing games or other graphics-heavy applications.

If the clean installation fixes the problem, avoid manually copying igd10iumd32.dll from the old DriverStore folder. Reinstalling the package restores the driver catalog, INF configuration, dependencies, and related files together.
Fix 3: Use Windows Update and Device Manager
Windows Update may contain a compatible display-driver update, firmware-related fix, or repair for a failed update.
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Open Advanced options > Optional updates.
- Check Driver updates if available.
- Install the relevant display-driver update.
- Restart Windows.
If the error started immediately after an update, try a rollback:
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Double-click the Intel graphics device.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Roll Back Driver if available.
- Choose a reason and confirm.
- Restart the computer.
The rollback button may be unavailable if Windows no longer has the previous driver. In that case, install the validated OEM package manually.
Do not assume that the newest generic Intel driver is automatically the best one for a laptop. Manufacturer packages can include display switching, power-management, panel, and firmware-related customizations.
Fix 4: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine a driver component after an update or after an untrusted installer places a DLL on the system.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries involving
igd10iumd32.dllor the Intel graphics driver. - Check the file path and detection details.
- Restore or allow the file only if it came from a verified OEM or Intel driver package and the computer is otherwise clean.
Do not restore a loose DLL downloaded from a random site. Microsoft notes that restoring a quarantined file can cause Defender to detect it again. If the file came from an unknown installer, leave it quarantined, run a full scan, uninstall the untrusted software, and reinstall the complete graphics driver from the manufacturer.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and SFC can help when Windows component storage or protected system files are damaged. They do not reliably rebuild a third-party Intel graphics package, so use them alongside driver repair rather than instead of it.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
A successful DISM operation reports that the restore operation completed successfully. SFC may report that it found and repaired corrupt files, or that it found no integrity violations.
If SFC reports that it could not repair some files, restart and run the commands again. If the same igd10iumd32.dll error remains, return to the OEM driver clean-install procedure because the missing component may belong to the driver package rather than Windows’ protected files.

Repeatedly running repair commands without knowing what changed makes troubleshooting difficult. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for Windows problems and identify repair work, with fixes performed by the full version, but it is optional and does not replace reinstalling a specific OEM graphics driver.
Fix 6: Repair one affected game or application
If only one game fails, the application may have damaged files or an incompatible configuration rather than a system-wide Intel problem.

- Select Verify integrity
- Select Verify files
- Select Repair
- Install the game’s available updates
The exact label depends on the launcher. Restart the game after the repair completes.
For an older game, also try:
- Right-click the game shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Use the compatibility troubleshooter or test a supported compatibility mode.
- Apply the change and launch the game again.
Still update the Intel driver if the crash report specifically names igd10iumd32.dll. Do not place a downloaded DLL inside the game folder. That may hide the original error while creating a mismatched or unsafe driver combination.
If Outlook or Office alone crashes, install the current graphics driver first. A 32-bit Office application can interact with the 32-bit Intel graphics component even on 64-bit Windows. If the problem continues, repair Office through Settings > Apps > Installed apps, select Microsoft 365 or Office, choose Modify, and run the available repair option.

Fix 7: Use System Restore after a recent change
System Restore is appropriate when the error appeared directly after a driver, application, or Windows change.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point created before the problem began.
- Select Next.
- Review the affected programs and drivers.
- Select Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore normally preserves personal files but rolls back drivers, programs, registry settings, and system files. If no suitable restore point exists, reinstall the correct graphics driver instead.
Why regsvr32 and DLL downloads are wrong here
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. igd10iumd32.dll is a graphics user-mode driver component loaded by the graphics stack. Registering it is generally irrelevant and may produce an error that does not address the driver problem.
Do not download this DLL from a random DLL website and copy it into System32, SysWOW64, or a game folder. A loose file can have the wrong version, architecture, signature, dependencies, or malware. It also does not restore the driver’s INF file, catalog, settings, and related components.

If the error still remains
After a clean OEM installation, DISM, SFC, and System Restore, investigate the wider system:
- Test whether Windows is stable with Microsoft Basic Display Adapter after removing the Intel driver.
- If stability returns, suspect the Intel package, hardware compatibility, or the GPU.
- Check for BIOS and firmware updates from the computer manufacturer.
- Check storage health and run a memory diagnostic.
- Consider unsupported legacy hardware if no current driver exists.
- Use Windows recovery or repair installation if system corruption is extensive.
- Have the computer serviced if multiple graphics applications continue to crash.
If every graphics application fails, the issue is less likely to be one missing DLL and more likely to involve the display driver, GPU, firmware, memory, storage, or Windows installation.
FAQ
Is igd10iumd32.dll a Windows file?
It is an Intel graphics-driver component, not a general Windows feature. Windows may store it under a Windows driver directory because that is where installed drivers reside.
Why is a 32-bit DLL on 64-bit Windows?
32-bit applications need 32-bit graphics components. A 64-bit driver package can include both architectures so older applications continue to work.
Should I install Visual C++ or DirectX?
Not as the first fix. Those packages do not normally install this Intel graphics-driver component.
Should I copy the file from DriverStoreFileRepository?
No. Reinstall the complete driver package instead. The driver’s catalog, INF, dependencies, and configuration matter.
What if only one application reports the error?
Repair or verify that application first, then update the Intel graphics driver. A single application failure does not prove that the DLL is globally missing.
What if the error began after Windows Update?
