That premise can make a solid first impression without making the game a lasting fit: it promised team-based action built around distinct characters, but it is no longer playable. Firewalk announced that sales would stop and the game would go offline in September 2024.
What Concord set out to be
PlayStation introduced Concord as a “5v5 character-driven, first-person multiplayer shooter” set in the Concord galaxy. It was announced for PS5 and PC, with a PlayStation Network account and an internet connection required.

That combination explains the appeal in the title’s modest wording. A five-player team format and character-centered design offer a clear entry point for someone curious about multiplayer shooters: the match has a defined team structure, while the characters give the action an identity beyond generic team-versus-team combat. That is a description of the announced concept, not a claim about how the game played in practice.
Why the game is no longer available
On September 3, 2024, Firewalk game director Ryan Ellis announced that Concord sales would cease immediately and that the game would go offline beginning September 6. The announcement also offered full refunds to purchasers on PS5 and PC. PlayStation Support confirms the shutdown and refund offer.

Ellis said, “while many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended.” That is Firewalk’s own assessment at the time, not an independent measurement of player response.
Concord should therefore be treated as a past release and a case study in a multiplayer game’s launch, not as a current recommendation to download or buy. The official shutdown information does not establish an individual purchaser’s refund eligibility today.

What its pre-launch plans do—and don’t—tell us
Before launch, PlayStation said optional cosmetic items would have no gameplay impact and described plans for seasonal content, including a second season planned for January 2025. Those were pre-launch announcements. Because Concord went offline in September 2024, they are not evidence that the planned content was released or that the game remains available.

The limit of a “decent first impression”
A first impression is a small claim: a game’s premise or early presentation can seem promising without proving that its matches stay engaging, its characters feel meaningfully distinct, or its overall experience works for a particular player. The official announcements establish Concord’s format and launch requirements, but they do not establish those hands-on qualities.

So the title’s reaction works as a personal judgment, not a verdict about multiplayer games generally. Concord’s announced concept gave a newcomer reasons to be curious; its short-lived availability means that curiosity can no longer be tested by playing the game.
