Nintendo’s September 8 Zelda 40th Anniversary presentation did announce Ocarina of Time for Switch 2, but it did not confirm either HD game. That leaves fans without a port announcement—not proof that Nintendo has cancelled the games or will never release them.

| Twilight Princess HD | Wii U | March 4, 2016 |
Nintendo describes The Wind Waker HD as featuring HD visuals and Wii U GamePad features. Its Twilight Princess HD page describes improved visuals, controls, and gameplay. Those are details of the Wii U editions; they do not establish how either game would work in a hypothetical Switch release. Nintendo UK: The Wind Waker HD · Nintendo UK: Twilight Princess HD
Does the anniversary announcement mean the ports are cancelled?
No. The announcement establishes what Nintendo chose to reveal in that presentation, not what it may do later. The accurate status is that no Switch or Switch 2 release for either HD edition had been announced in the official anniversary materials reviewed as of October 8, 2026. Nintendo has not said in those materials that the games are cancelled, and their omission is not evidence that a future port is impossible.

What to expect if you want to play them now
The HD versions identified on Nintendo’s product pages are for Wii U. Those pages document the editions and their historical release dates, but do not verify current availability, sellers, or prices. They also offer no basis for treating a Wii U copy or its GamePad features as a Switch product.
