Immutable Games announced Formats for Gods Unchained on August 8, 2024: limited-time, rotating game modes with different rules, deck-building constraints and competitive intensity. The change was intended to give players fresh ways to use their card collections, while the announcement said the existing Ranked and Sealed Formats would remain permanent.
What the Formats update introduced
Formats were designed as rule sets that rotate for a limited time, giving players modes beyond the permanent offerings. Immutable said the different rules would encourage distinct strategic deck builds using both older and newer cards, and provide options with varying levels of competitive intensity. The announcement did not name a full lineup of rotating Formats, so it does not establish which specific modes players could expect.

Gods Unchained Game Designer Bryn Welch described the intent as “fresh ways to play with their collection, bringing forward new metas and reviving old ones.” Immutable also framed deck-building as a way to engage with the game’s lore and artwork.

|---|---|---|---|
| Rotating Formats | Limited-time, rotating modes | Mode-specific rules and constraints intended to prompt different builds | Achievement rewards, with further opportunities described through a Bonus Multiplier and bonus games |
| Ranked | Permanent | Immutable said it would remain unchanged | The Formats announcement did not specify a change to its reward terms |
| Sealed | Permanent | Immutable said it would remain, with new cards added | The Formats announcement did not specify a change to its reward terms |
The reward details above reflect Immutable’s August 2024 announcement, not a guarantee of current reward rules. Its cited estimate of “almost 2,000 cards” referred to the Ranked pool at that time and should not be treated as a current card count.

Immutable Support’s March 11, 2026 mobile overview describes an iOS and Android companion app, listing Ranked, Solo and Casual play among its features. It says Sealed is not available in the mobile version; those mobile limits should not be taken as a description of the desktop game’s full mode roster.

What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The 2024 update was a plan for rotating, rule-changing play alongside permanent Ranked and Sealed modes. It did not provide a complete list of rotating modes or establish today’s rotation, and its launch-era reward descriptions should not be read as current terms. Separate descriptions of earlier mode arrangements or individual announcements do not, by themselves, confirm the 2024 lineup or what is active now.
