Roblox removed Guest Mode in 2017. The company announced the change on October 3, 2017, but a later update in the same thread specifically records Guest Mode being turned off for iOS on October 23.
When did Roblox remove Guest Mode?
Roblox’s Developer Relations Team announced the removal on October 3, 2017, saying users would no longer be able to play as guests on mobile or desktop platforms. That is the announcement date—not proof that every platform lost Guest Mode at precisely the same time. Roblox’s announcement thread later added a platform-specific update dated October 23, 2017: “Guest Mode has been turned off for iOS.”

Why did Roblox remove guests?
Roblox said it expected the change to increase the number of people playing with registered accounts. The company explained that guests could not save game progress, chat, play with friends, purchase in-game items, or use likes, dislikes, and favorites to provide feedback. Roblox argued that signing up would give new users access to more features and help retain them longer.
