The achievement count depends on the platform and what the list includes: Prima Games’ January 24, 2025 guide covers 45 base-game achievements and trophies, while Steam’s store listing displays 55 achievements as of 2026. Those figures describe different lists, so they should not be treated as one universal total. Here’s how to approach the base-game goals, including the troublesome Archivist achievement and what to try if an unlock fails to appear.
How many achievements and trophies are in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle?
There is no single verified total that applies to every platform and content scope. Prima Games’ guide, published January 24, 2025, lists 45 base-game achievements and trophies. Steam’s listing displays 55 achievements as of 2026. Steam also identifies The Order of Giants as an additional story chapter and DLC; the dated 45-entry guide should not be assumed to cover every current Steam entry or DLC achievement.
Bethesda lists the game for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The available sources do not establish a complete, current platform-by-platform trophy table or confirm the DLC separation for every platform, so check the achievement list shown by your own platform for its exact scope. Steam’s store listing describes the PC version as single-player and supporting Steam Achievements.
How to work through the base-game achievement list
The 45-entry base-game guide covers several kinds of goals, not just finishing the story. Use it as a route checklist, and make sure you distinguish main-story milestones from optional quests and collectibles.

#1 Best Overall
- STANDARD EDITION CONTENT — Includes the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle base game.
- BECOME INDIANA JONES — Play as the famed archaeologist in a first-person, single-player adventure set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.
- A WORLD OF MYSTERY — Travel from Marshall College to the Vatican, Egypt, and Sukhothai as you investigate an ancient power, meet intriguing characters, and solve riddles.
- WHIP-CRACKING ACTION — Use Indy’s trademark whip to distract, disarm, and attack enemies, swing over patrols, and scale walls. Combine stealth, melee combat, and gunplay to face the enemy threat.
- THE SPIRIT OF DISCOVERY — Move between linear, narrative-driven gameplay and open-area maps as you uncover secrets, avoid deadly traps, and solve fiendish puzzles.
Advance the story and complete Fieldwork
Story achievements in the guide mark progress through the prologue, Marshall College, the Vatican, Gizeh, the Himalayas, Shanghai, and Sukhothai, as well as completion of the main story. It also lists Fieldwork quest-completion goals in the Vatican, Gizeh, and Sukhothai. A story-only playthrough therefore leaves optional objectives to check separately.
Track collectibles and optional tasks
- Radio frequencies: Find all eight—four in Gizeh and four in Sukhothai—and bring them to Gina.
- Lost Artifacts: Return all ten. The guide divides them between Europe/Vatican and Asia/Sukhothai.
- Ernesto’s photograph: Buy the camera at the Vatican Post Office, then photograph Ernesto.
- Adventure Book abilities: Find and read the books, then manually read them to learn their abilities.
- Archivist: Collect all Journal notes; see the dedicated section below for Bethesda’s recovery suggestions.
Prima Games’ 2025 guide says there are 497 Journal Notes. Bethesda’s support page defines Archivist as collecting all Journal notes but does not publish a number, so treat 497 as the guide’s count rather than an independently confirmed current total.
Rank #2
- Discover one of history's greatest mysteries in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a first-person single-player adventure set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.
- Experience the adventure as Indy in an exciting story filled with exploration, immersive action and intriguing puzzles.
- Journey from the halls of Marshall College to the heart of the Vatican, the pyramids of Egypt, the sunken temples of Sukhothai and beyond.
- Indiana's signature whip remains at the heart of his equipment and can be used to distract, disarm, and attack enemies.
- Venture through a dynamic mix of linear, narrative gameplay and open area maps.
Try the optional object-interaction goals
Some achievements reward unusual combat interactions rather than story progress. The guide includes The Right Note for clobbering an enemy with a guitar, Pest Control for hitting an enemy with a fly swatter, and Apple of Discord for hitting an enemy with an apple. If you are pursuing every listed goal, experiment with ordinary objects instead of assuming every achievement comes from a quest or collectible.
Archivist: what it requires and what to do if it does not unlock
Bethesda’s official description says: “The Archivist Achievement is gained by collecting all Journal notes in the game.” Bethesda also says it is investigating reports from players who meet the requirements but do not receive the achievement. Its suggestions are troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed fixes.

- An all-new story chapter takes Indiana Jones to the ancient streets of Rome where forgotten catacombs twist into something far more sinister. Indy must outwit a dangerous cult and decipher intricate puzzles designed by emperors to uncover the dark legacy of the Nephilim giants.
- MYSTERIES OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE AWAIT When Indiana Jones encounters Father Ricci, a young priest desperate for help to track down a Roman artifact, a standard treasure hunt soon turns into a perilous journey. Along the way Indy must face the sinister plots of Emperor Nero and his gladiator games, the enigmatic Cult of Mithras, and whatever else lurks in the shadows. Can Father Ricci's cryptic knowledge guide Indy through these treacherous passageways? Only Indiana Jones can piece together this breathtaking mystery.
- EXPLORE THE SHADOWS OF ROME Danger awaits as The Order of Giants takes Indiana Jones beyond the walls of Vatican City and into a brand new open-area map in the bustling city of Rome. Adventure through the crumbling ruins of the Colosseum to the pristine Vatican Gardens. The mystery will also take you into Rome’s ancient sewer system, the Cloaca Maxima, and deeper below ground to foreboding crypts.
- A DANGEROUS CULT The secretive, centuries old Cultists of Mithras are everywhere, striking from the shadows. Their dark red robes reflect the blood oaths to their cause, and they’re willing to kill or die to protect the ancient power they serve.
- Take hint photos at the Fountain of Confession and around the Sacred Wounds Mural.
- Take the Sunan fishing picture before traveling to Iraq.
- Wait for the game’s save indicator to finish before leaving an area.
- If Journal entries are not updating, use Save Rollback.
Bethesda says collectible items required for achievements should be obtainable by revisiting areas. The stated exception is the Vatican intro: it can be revisited through a door in the Vatican. Bethesda does not identify a universal fix for every affected save, and it does not describe these collectibles as permanently missable.
What to do when an achievement or trophy does not unlock
First confirm the exact requirement for that achievement and that the game registered the required action. Bethesda notes that connection problems can delay notifications and that an achievement list may not have synced. Work through its recommended checks in order:

These general sync steps are Bethesda’s advice for achievement problems. For Archivist specifically, use the separate Journal-note and save guidance above as well.

Bethesda lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2 as platforms. Its purchase page says physical Xbox and PS5 Standard Editions include a game disc and are not available in every region. Confirm the edition and disc compatibility for your region before buying. The Premium Upgrade does not include the base game; the Collector’s Bundle includes Premium Edition content alongside memorabilia, including an 11-inch globe, relic replica, SteelBook case, and journal. These editions do not change how the achievement requirements work.
