Is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle worth playing?
The game’s strongest appeal is its combination of exploration, puzzles, and action shaped around Indiana Jones rather than a generic action hero. Indy’s whip is not just a weapon: Lucasfilm’s design feature describes the team’s intention to make players look around during whip swings, helping the action feel embodied. Designer Virant told Lucasfilm: “When I’ve watched people play it through, especially for all of the whip swings, people did have to continue looking around. I think that’s an aspect of our game. It feels natural. It really does feel like they’re in Indy’s shoes as opposed to just playing a ‘just press X’ Indiana Jones simulator.”

That same character-first approach informs the combat’s intended humor. Lucasfilm says the designers wanted fights to feel funny in a way that suited Indy, alongside the adventure’s puzzles and exploration. The result is a game pitched less as nonstop combat than as a cinematic journey through places and mysteries.
For one external reference point, GameSpot lists its base-game review at 9/10. That is GameSpot’s score, not an aggregate verdict or a substitute for considering your platform and preferences.

What is the story about?
Set in 1937 between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the story sends Indy to investigate a mystery connecting ancient sites around the world. It is a new chapter in the character’s timeline rather than an adaptation of one of those films.
The story expansion, The Order of Giants, takes Indy to Rome and the Vatican. Lucasfilm quotes Derrick describing them as “places built on secrets,” and frames the setting around history, myth, and mystery. GameSpot lists its review of the expansion at 7/10; that score applies to the DLC, not the base game.
What platforms is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on?
Keep the original launch schedule separate from today’s platform list. Lucasfilm announced availability for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass on December 9, 2024, followed by PS5 on April 17, 2025. Bethesda’s current game page also lists Nintendo Switch 2 as available, alongside Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and PS5. The current Game Pass catalog, eligible plan, and regional availability can change, so check the service where you play.

Switch 2: portability with a reported 30 fps cap
TechRadar’s 2026 Switch 2 review praises the presentation and portability, while reporting a 30 fps cap on that version compared with 60 fps on other versions. The reviewer says they spent more than 30 hours with the Switch 2 build, mainly in handheld and tabletop modes. These are TechRadar’s findings for its reviewed build; they should not be treated as a universal specification for every platform or later update.
If portable play matters more to you than a higher frame rate, that review suggests the Switch 2 version may suit your priorities. If frame rate is the deciding factor, compare current platform-specific performance information before buying rather than assuming every console or PC setup behaves alike.
Accessibility and controls vary by platform
TechRadar reports customizable subtitles, closed captions, interface elements, camera effects, color filters, and HUD settings in the Switch 2 version. PlayStation’s US listing advertises 17 accessibility features for PS5, as well as haptics, adaptive triggers, 3D audio, and SSD features. These are platform-specific descriptions; do not assume that every setting or feature is identical across versions.

Which edition should you buy?
The key distinction is whether the package includes the base game. Bethesda’s Premium Edition includes the game, The Order of Giants story DLC, a digital artbook, and the Temple of Doom outfit. The Premium Upgrade includes the DLC and digital extras but not the base game, so it is for players who already own the game. The DLC is also available separately and requires the base game.

On the PlayStation US page, the Premium Edition was listed at $99.99 and the add-on at an original list price of $19.99 when checked on October 8, 2026; the add-on page showed a promotion. Those are volatile US storefront figures, not prices for other regions or platforms. Check your local store for current pricing.
Bethesda also lists collector’s editions and bundles featuring a Great Circle globe, Allmaker relic replica, SteelBook, and adventure journal. They are memorabilia options rather than requirements for playing, and Bethesda warns that some collector products are region-limited. Physical availability varies by region.
