INDUSTRIA is a compact, single-player first-person shooter whose strongest draw is its unusual setting: Cold War-era East Berlin colliding with a surreal industrial world. It is an easier recommendation for players who value atmosphere and mystery than for those looking for a long campaign, consistently engaging combat, or an obvious full-price value.
What is INDUSTRIA?
Developed by Bleakmill, INDUSTRIA launched on 30 September 2021. You play as Nora, who is searching for her missing colleague Walter after being pulled from East Berlin into a parallel dimension on the night the Berlin Wall fell. The contrast between a recognizable historical setting and uncanny industrial spaces is the game’s central hook. Steam’s official listing describes it as a single-player FPS built around that search.
What do reviews say about INDUSTRIA?
The critical response is mixed rather than a blanket endorsement or rejection. A Steam storefront snapshot accessed on 8 October 2026 showed a Metacritic score of 67, 73% positive from 1,587 English-language Steam reviews overall, and 62% positive from 45 recent reviews. Those Steam figures come from separate samples and can change; they are a dated view, not a permanent rating. Metacritic’s PC page describes its 67 critic score as based on nine reviews, and showed a 6.1 user score from 90 ratings in the captured listing.
Atmosphere and architecture
Reviewers repeatedly identify the environments and mood as the game’s strengths. GameCritics praised its architecture, while a MonsterVine excerpt hosted on Steam called it short, solid, and enjoyable. The setting gives the journey a distinct identity even when its combat is less compelling. OpenCritic’s review excerpts attribute the MonsterVine assessment to Sean Halliday and date it 19 October 2021.

Combat and polish
Critical reservations focus on combat that can feel sluggish or repetitive, alongside technical issues noted in reviews. These are reviewers’ assessments, not a guarantee of how the game will perform on every PC. In a January 2025 developer update about work on INDUSTRIA 2, Bleakmill described the original combat loop as enemies spotting the player and then chasing until one side dies. How long is INDUSTRIA?
Steam estimates about four hours for the campaign; GameCritics characterized its runtime as four to five hours. Expect a focused, short story rather than a lengthy shooter with a large arsenal: Steam lists five weapons. The brief length is part of the value question, particularly if you are considering the game at its current price. One 2021 MonsterVine review excerpt singled out price as its main reservation, but there is no single price verdict that applies across regions or sale periods.

- It is a better fit if you want an atmospheric narrative FPS, enjoy unusual environments, and are comfortable with a short campaign.
- Be more cautious if you prioritize deep or varied combat, technical polish, many hours of play, or strong value at full price.
